The day has finally come for the Canadian Maine-Anjou Association’s annual general meeting. Maine-Anjou is one of the two breeds of cattle we breed and raise on our farm- the Perry Farm

Every year the AGM is hosted in a different province and this year it’s happening right here in the County of Frontenac and Kingston area.

Jenna Perry, Dave Perry, Ron Gilbert, Kaitlyn Perry, the Beef Farmers of Frontenac, along with the Ontario Maine-Anjou Association, the Frontenac and Lennox & Addington 4H Beef Clubs have organized this year’s event.

Early this morning local members, members from across the country and the board of directors will load a bus and tour local grazing pastures. They’ll visit Travis & Cathy Greenlees at Pittsburgh Packers and move along while listening to guest speakers.

At 12:45 the bus will arrive here at Food Less Travelled for lunch and will continue to another pasture that house sour cattle. We’re very lucky to be able to pasture some of our Maine-Anjou and Speckle Park just around the corner from our farm at Link Line Fence Ltd (known to us as The Bender Ranch). The fences are great 😉!! Ron Gilbert will showcase his Maine-Anjou and pasture set up in Demorestville before the bus heads to isaiah tubbs for everyone to enjoy supper, a silent auction fundraiser for the juniors and some well deserved get together time. There may also be a board meeting.

The tour is followed by the AGM on Sunday hosted by Bernie Robinson, a farmer and big supporter of the local agricultural industry.

Dear friends and customers of Food Less Travelled and Perry Farm,

Dave is now recovering at home. We are deeply grateful for everyone's care, prayers, and support. The family will be unavailable this weekend through Monday as we spend time with family and friends, grieve Matt, and support Jenna, Barrett, Charlee, Tyson and Matt’s family during this difficult time.

After Monday, Dave and Kim can have visitors at the farm. Please call or text in advance so that Dave and Kim can be sure to accommodate and Dave can have proper rest times.

Thank you for your understanding and for keeping our family in your hearts.

It’s that time of year!!!
Ontario Concord Grapes are finally ready and Cindy and Karri are learning the ropes!!!!

A few pies will be ready around noon and more tomorrow and the next few weeks.

Dear Food Less Travelled Community

We want to let you know Food Less Travelled is open and we are grateful for your continued support, patience, and kindness during an incredibly difficult time for our family and team.

We are heartbroken by the devastating loss of our beloved Matt. He meant so much to us and his absence is felt deeply by his life partner Jenna and their little boy Barrett, Charlee and Tyson as well as the rest of our family, his family and friends.

At the same time, Dave remains in hospital, recovering each day. We are taking things one day at a time and doing our best to keep serving our customers while supporting our loved ones through this challenging period.

Please know that if things take a little longer than usual, if products run short, if our hours or service needs to shift unexpectedly it is because we are navigating these circumstances with heavy hearts. Your understanding means more than we can say.

Thank you for standing with us, checking in and continuing to support Food Less Travelled and the Perry Farm. We feel the love of this community, and it is helping carry us through.

Good morning followers.
I feel it’s time to update you on how Dave is doing.

Dave is still in CICU at KGH and for now that’s the best place for him. His heart is fighting to get back to normal and in so doing, is causing him some grief. Personally I’m comparing it to a bucking bull. His heart wants to get out of the gate but it’s fighting so hard, it brings on some uncertainties. He has a severe case of pericarditis which is taking an exorbitant amount of time to calm down causing some dramatic symptoms along the way. Each day is different but we know ultimately he is making progress. He has an amazing team of doctors and nurses looking after him at every moment of the day.

Sometimes the progress is hard to see and feel when you’re living it.

If you have a second- please drop him a comment. If you know him well- remind him of your most memorable Dave moment. If you don’t know Dave-a kind word from a stranger can be just as rewarding.

Thank you Matt Day from Days On Front And Nora’s Coffee + Sandwiches for jumping to help us.
Our toasters kicked the bucket and Matt jumped in to lend us his spare!!

I didn’t even know Nora’s existed (I don’t get out much) but I am definitely going to check this place out!!

If we have anyone in our business community who could help us out in a pinch. Our commercial toaster needs repair and our spare is giving us trouble too.
Anyone have an extra one and/or can fix one or both of these. Probably a fuse or element??
We can use a residential toaster but it’s not fast enough.
