Hey market fam, this Saturday the Kelowna Market has temporarly changed the hours due to the extreme heat warning. See you from 7-12
Due to unseasonably high temperatures, predicted to be in the 40 degree + range this weekend, we have made a decision to temporarily change this SATURDAY’s market hours to 7AM - 12PM.
The safety of our customers, vendors & market staff is of upmost importance, and the slightly earlier times will allow for everyone to be safe during the heat of the day.
Below is advice given by the Government of Canada for the current Heat Warning:
Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.
Check on older family, friends and neighbours. Make sure they are cool and have drinking water.
Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle (please note that Dogs are NOT permitted at the Farmers Market, and we are urging our customers to please leave your pets at home).
Watch for the symptoms of heat illness: dizziness/fainting; nausea/vomiting; rapid breathing and heartbeat; extreme thirst; decreased urination with unusually dark urine.
Outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place.
We will continue to watch the forecasted temperatures and follow all health & safety advice, as set out by the appropriate authorities.
Hours will remain the same for the Sunday Summer Market in Kerry Park 9am - 2pm, due to the market’s proximity to the lake, and the fact that the market is set up on grass, with shade being provided by the trees.
