This year’s High Mountain Green is among the most memorable we have had in recent harvests.

While full-bodied and rich in flavours reminiscent of flowers and seeds, this tea is remarkably refreshing. Its luminous liquor smells warm and feels both cleansing and hydrating to the body. Its clarity-inducing salinity leaves a hint of saltiness at the back of the palate on the finish.

The beautiful Anji Baicha High Mountain, first harvest from April 2026!

The 2026 harvest is particularly floral and has an incredible amount of body. It is a potent harvest: a small amount of tea goes a long way. While still delicate in its aroma, the mouthfeel is dense and creamy. Its trademark bamboo notes gradually emerge through infusions, and the weight of its liquor slowly disperses, finishing with a tea that feels deeply satisfying and refreshing.

New harvest of our Plum Blossom.

Treasured for blooming in winter, plum blossoms are symbols of resilience. As medicine, their tea is known to calm the liver and stomach while clearing heat and dryness from the body.

Their taste is very soothing, with incredible notes of marzipan and apricot.

Our updated branding took its cues from the shop itself — the shoji screens at our front window, and our custom-built walnut tea bar, built with consideration for the ritual of gongfucha, where water passes quietly through the surface.

The shoji’s way of organizing space with light and shadow became the design principle. The creative team at Leo Burnett distilled this into a grid system and a custom typeface.

Here are some of our new brand collaterals. We are excited to share them with you.

Introducing a new first harvest green tea for this year: Huoqing “Fire Jade” 涌溪火青.

From century-old semi-wide tea trees deep in the mountains of Anhui Province, it is one of the most labour-intensive green teas we are aware of, requiring extreme patience, skill and experience. Crafting Huoqing involves 20 hours of continuous pan-frying over charcoal.

This tea has a strong presence: the dried tea is a deep, rich green color, with a beautiful oily sheen. In the gaiwan they unfurl quickly into bright, youthful leaves that curve softly in the water. We first taste the warm, metallic “wok hay,” followed by the intense greenness of the plant, then the wildness of the forest valley, and finally, its spring flowers.

Inflected by the extended, rhythmic pan frying process, this green tea presents with such depth and complexity it feels more like a pu-erh. Like a pu-erh, it is such a direct expression of the tea plant and its terroir and, also like a pu-erh, its energy moves evenly throughout the whole body. It has the aroma of freshly peeled tree bark, and the energetics of a wild terrain.

Introducing our newest tea: Tamba Black Bean Tea from Odagaki Shōten of Hyōgo.

Odagaki Shōten is a 300-year-old company specializing in black beans, located in Tamba Sasayama - a historic agricultural region in the Hyōgo Prefecture. We are honoured to be the first shop outside of Japan to carry their products. Our collaboration is a special batch of Tamba Roasted Black Bean - only 12 kg, roasted exclusively for us over the course of one month.

Their black bean tea is hand sorted and net-roasted over direct flame with far-infrared heat - a very old technique that produces a clean, crisp taste with a deep roasted aroma. It brews a cloudy liquor that slowly turns plum colour. The smell and taste is incredible - like coffee, but without any acidity. A broth-like mouthfeel with a sharp, sweet finish. And it’s caffeine free.

We’ve never smelled or tasted anything like this. Delicious hot, cold brewed, or iced - cold brewed, it tastes like an iced latte.
