Mexico City has a myriad of vegan restaurants, and .mexico was an awesome visit on our way back to Canada. We had Flautas, Chickn Burger, and a pink guava shake. The burger was excellent, the flautas so comforting and balanced. The shake was sublime, with a handmade preserve and whip to garnish. The meal was about 35 dollars canadian. Go. Go eat there. It's a reasonably short flight. 😀

On Big and Little Corn Island, I sidestepped the big cost of restaurants fot the most part and cooked food from ingredients locally available- a somewhat sparse selection, but good for our purposes. What do you think looks best?

Being 🌱 in 's Big and Little Corn Islands - a set of Carribean gems- being vegan is not impossible, it's just a bit of a back to basics approach. I made all that is pictured but we also dined on corn flakes and bananas with soy milk powder, chips, bean paste and salsa, oatmeal, tacos, coconuts, watermelon, and as youll see in the next post, burgers. ;)

we went to Hostal Zopilote on Ometepe in Nicaragua twice. Vegan buffet night was a hit! about 20 items on the plate. a neato place. First time went we were told the lasagne was vegan and then we reminded them on delivery that cheese is made of milk and we switched to tasty sandwiches. Buffet which was one plate portioned for you was 9 cad. not bad! tasty food galore in a outdoor jungle setting.

In Ometepe Nicaragua, we found lots of omission type vegan options. These pizza and sandwich options were decent, on thin crispy home made crust. I thought the sandwich with roasted garlic, squash, and tonato was a notch better than the pizza. Natural Restaurant. The owner has a fleet of 6 Grey fluffy dogs that follow him everywhere so there's a bonus!

The meal was 20 dollars US!! Prices on the small volcano island of immense beauty are higher than other places. Surprise!

This place had its hours posted wrong (closed at 930 pm?) on three platforms and acted put out when we tried to arrive at 7pm the first time. The food was meh upon return. Smoothie was good. Burger dry. A bit pricey. Nice inside. Maybe its better some other times. Sorry. 🌱

Pretty sure gave us the highlight reel meal of the past almost 6 months... the Vegan option here is an amazing burger...

Pretty sure gave us the highlight reel meal of the past almost 6 months...

the Vegan option here is an amazing burger with fried plantain as the bun, loaded with homemade secret recipe creamy garlic and squash sauces, beautifully roasted vegetables, and an incredibly kind and personable seeming owner named Amos who takes great pride in his family traditions of food preparation.

The marinated lightly cooked beet slices, the abundance of sauce, the crisp of the satisfying fried plantain, wow.wow.wow

I dream about eating this again one day- but if you get there before me, have it. It was a fairly high local price of 12$ for the meal, but well well worth it.

In Leon Nicaragua there are solid vegan options that usually take a "greatest global hits" type of approach, but this place was a touch different. At Pa MI Gente, a local foods Comedor, we found a buffet of typical foods with an entire plantbase section with stewed vegetables, soy protein, beans, tortillas, rice, pinto gallo, and more.

For only 4 dollars for a massive plate, we were enthused, satisfied and happy to try classic home made style cuisine. Of course, you can see more on the Vegan Everywhere YouTube channel. ;)

in Leon, Nicaragua was so so so good. First of all- restuarant has a nice pool you can use with your visit. Second, it has vocal friendly.polite kitties. But most importantly, the food and service was incredible. We were delighted with the nachos, the shrimp tacos, the burgers, and I really enjoyed their carrot cake.

Its about 10 to 15 dollars canadian for a generous sized dish there.
