Today, September 30, is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Milltown Bar and Grill is located on the unceded land and waterways of the Musqueam people, who have cared for and stewarded these lands since time immemorial. We recognize the privilege of operating at the Musqueam Band-owned Milltown Marina.
We are grateful for the relationships we have built with members of the Musqueam community, and we recognize that being part of this community comes with a responsibility to listen, learn and continue doing this work beyond September 30.
Today, we remember the children who were taken from their families, those who never came home, residential school survivors and the families and communities who continue to live with the impacts of this history.
Truth and reconciliation require more than remembrance. We encourage our Milltown community to make space for Indigenous voices, stories, art, and knowledge and to consider what meaningful action and accountability can look like every day.
We hold our Indigenous friends, neighbours, staff, and community members close today and throughout the year.
