- About 10th Haven -

The 10th Haven “Chefs” have been working on materializing the idea of a restaurant but don’t quite have the means to open a store front yet. In efforts to gather enough capital, we have decided to transform our humble home into a unique place of grub and gathering. Ok, so we aren’t real Chefs, but we’ve been familiarizing ourselves with the kitchen since the ages of 12. Devel

oping our palates through eating out A LOT and through extensive travels to places such as; Korean, Japan, China, Thailand, United-States of America, Canada and Mauritius we have managed to create menus of food fusion which we would love to share with you all. Although Vancouver is known for its extensive food selection, we’ve found a way to create up to par or even better food in our kitchen. The 10th Haven Chefs will make sure that the prepared food is delicious, fresh and unlike manyAsian restaurants, our food does not have any MSG. (FYI - Monosodium Glutamate is the #1 among the top-10 lists of most harmful ingredients in foods.) A revised fixed menu will be posted on our Facebook Photo Album bi-weekly and amendments will be made based on customer feedback, so please let us know what you liked, what you didn't or what you’d like to eat!

We are so excited that you could join us!

Our family is constantly looking for ways to spread our joy for cooking and so we've decided to create this channel as a family project that makes cooking easy, fun and super educational.

Completely inspired by our daughter, this 'cookbook' or 'cook journal' was going to be for her use when she grows up but then we thought, why not just make it available to the rest of the world! There simply can't be TOO much good food.

This is another variation of Thai stir fry basil dish. It is considered as a Thai fast food meal. It is super basic yet hearty and healthy meal. There’s plenty of vegetable, meat and spices all in one dish. What else can you ask for?! I like to use ground pork in my stir fry but you can absolutely substitute it with ground chicken. Serve it over a steaming hot jasmine rice and you will love it!
The secrets in making the stir fry dish is to make sure you pan fry your meat until browned before you do anything and of course, plenty of garlic!

Prep time - 5 mins
Cook time - 10 mins
Makes about 2-3 servings
▶ Ingredients
1 eggplant
5-6 garlic cloves
200 g ground pork
1/2 cup Thai basil
1 tbsp dark soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp seasoning sauce
1/2 tbsp brown sugar

Garlic oil for Thai noodle - กากหมูเจียว is one of the most important ingredients in most Thai noodle dishes. It is a secret ingredient that make all Thai noodles taste so dang good! It can be prepared by frying garlic with with pork fat (aka. Thai bacon in our house). It only require 4 simple ingredients and very easy to make. I normally make it in large batches since this can take quite a bit of time to cook.

GARLIC OIL - keep for later use in your noodles. In this recipe I make enough for 20-30 bowls of noodle (you only need a table spoon for each bowl). This simple condiment creates a unique flavour that will leave a pleasant taste in your mouth!

THAI BACON - can be eaten like chips and are highly addictive!

500 g pork fat
1 garlic clove
1 tsp salt
1 cup water

This is a classic dish that every kid loves. It is so simple and delicious. I used to eat this dish all the time growing up, and it’s something I still crave once in a while. Whenever I cook this dish for my guests, they would all be surprised at how simple it is to make such a comforting and delicious dish. Especially when you eat it with steaming hot jasmine rice.

How to make an easy authentic kao soi

Making a homemade curry paste can be time consuming and a lot of hassle for some people and guess what, I am one of those people!That’s why I created this recipe so that people like me can enjoy an authentic Kao Soi easily. Despite the simplicity of ingredients, an instant curry paste can give a surprising depth of flavor to your Kao Soi curry. .
I chose to go with beef today since it was on special :) Beef requires longer stewing times to make it soft and tender so for those who don’t have much time to spare, and want to make this meal within 30 mins you can do so by swapping the beef to cubed chicken thighs or sliced pork. .

Prep time - 5 mins
Cook time - 2 hours 30 mins
Makes about 5 servings .
▶ Ingredients
3 tbsp red curry paste
1 tbsp massamun paste
1 tbsp masala powder
1 tbsp turmeric powder
2 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp tamarind paste
1 chunk palm sugar
700g tip sirloin roast
200 ml coconut milk
2 cup water
▶ To serve you will need
1 pack flat wonton egg noodle (454g)
1/4 cilantro
1/2 small red onion
1 lime
