14 years of The Acorn 🌱

This last year was a wild one. Full of great food, great people, big moments, late nights, field trips, parties, markets, collaborations, celebrations, chaos and a whole lot of vegetables.

Trying to fit it all into a single post is impossible, but here are 20 tiny pieces of it.

Happy birthday to us. 🥂

The ultimate springtime fruit (that’s actually a vegetable). We’re still dreaming about this one...

BC rhubarb, poached in lemongrass syrup and layered with delicate shards of candied rhubarb with an Acorn garden sweet woodruff custard.

Until next time, Spring. 🌱🖤

We’re looking for a passionate, collaborative Sous Chef to join our tight-knit team.

If you share our obsession with vegetables, zero-waste cookery, and the creativity required to thrive in a fully locavore kitchen, we’d love to hear from you.

Football gives us heroes.

Karin Bubas reminds us they’re human.

Our latest billboard series captures players in moments of vulnerability, revealing the emotion behind the spectacle and the humanity behind the game.

To celebrate the series, The Acorn and Lila have each created a seasonal cocktail inspired by the artwork to keep you cool this summer.

Limited-edition postcards are available at both restaurants. Be sure to collect all four.

Seasons come and seasons go. That’s kind of the point.

Sunchoke ice cream with black sunchoke caramel, burnt bay leaf chantilly, apple compote, fried sunchoke chips, and crisp meringue.

No longer on the menu, but still worth remembering.

“Now that’s a strong foundation for a green star.”

The Acorn just took home the 2026 Vancouver Magazine Sustainability Award and Best Plant-Based, and we’re still flying high. 🚀

We’ve been doing this work quietly, stubbornly, and deliberately for 14 years: building close relationships with growers and foragers, preserving the season, using the whole ingredient, and letting those choices shape everything from the food and drinks to the way the restaurant runs.

Big thanks to and for recognizing the work, and to everyone who has supported The Acorn over the years. We’re proud to keep doing this work on Main Street, with and for our community 💫✨🌱
