It’s International Wild Salmon Day and what better time to celebrate the incredible wild salmon we find here in BC waters!

The sockeye salmon fishing season will be opening shortly, and with it our small-scale independent fish harvesters will be heading out to hopefully secure a bounty of wild salmon to share with members.

This scallop vongole spaghetti recipe is proof that sometimes simple really is best!

Using just a few basic ingredients, this easy yet seemingly luxurious recipe tastes like something you might find on the menu of your favourite seafood restaurant. Traditionally made with clams, we’ve given this recipe a Skipper Otto twist by using our incredible pink and spiny swimming scallops instead. The frozen scallops steam in a heavenly mix of garlic, chilli and white wine, allowing the briny flavour of the scallops to infuse and create the perfect light sauce for the spaghetti.

Your classic fish tacos just got a makeover thanks to our drool-worthy smashed pike taco recipe!

Now, don’t get us wrong, we love a good fish taco. But now and then, we love to shake things up, and this recipe is just that! Inspired by the viral smashed taco trend, we’ve blended our Northern pike fillets with a few flavour-packed spices to create a smooth paste that easily spreads over your favourite tortillas. Once prepared, the tortillas are pan-fried fish-side down, then flipped and finished on the other side. You can then top your tacos with your favourite toppings, whether it’s a fresh, punchy slaw or a quick salsa.

For us, it looks like partnering with small-scale, independent fishers in coastal and Indigenous communities—people who know these ecosystems best and have cared for them for generations. It means fishing with intention, using research-led decision-making to source only abundant species, and choosing low-impact gear methods that protect habitats and reduce bycatch.

It also means honouring every fish: using as much as possible and wasting as little as we can.

And beyond today, it’s about the future. We’re committed to sharing knowledge, improving transparency, and helping grow the next generation of ocean stewards who will carry this work forward.

The mother of all one-pan recipes - our creamy miso mushroom walleye with charred cabbage.

This recipe begins with cabbage wedges that are seared over high heat until tender and beautifully charred. Lightly floured walleye fillets (commonly known as pickerel) are then added to the skillet to gently brown in butter before being set aside while the luscious miso mushroom sauce is made. The creamy, umami-rich sauce perfectly balances the delicate flavour and texture of the fish. You could serve alongside rice, potatoes, or even orzo - the opportunities are endless.
