March is Women-Owned Business Month 💋 and since today is also International Women’s Day, we figured there would be no better time to introduce our fearless founder and creative director...
The one whose art and fingerprints are on every square inch of this place, digitally and hand-painted, inside and upon the exterior.
The woman for whose lifelong obsession with killer whales and the undersea world is where we find our namesake, and upon whose consummate zeal for elevated treats we base our entire brand.
She’s the marvelous, creatively unpredictable yet oddly consistent, unbridled creatrix of vibrant intention:
White we’re at it, let’s also shout out to the women who wear many hats for their businesses, including managing its social media presence. Like me! Yes, this is me, giving a shout-out to me and saying out loud all the things I hope to be remembered for one day.
I keep hearing that in the age of authenticity, founders need to get in front of their businesses and tell their own story, lest they be perceived as another soulless entity rather than a journey worth watching & supporting. I’ve got SO much soul! Too much, sometimes. But I am real. (Too real, always.)
Funny - I always thought of posting on social media as something of a ‘screaming into the void’ activity, which felt strange and removed from reality. I did it because it was fun, not necessarily useful. Well, now that these platforms have become a primary means of connecting with an audience and customer base, being on here is pretty much non-negotiable for anyone trying to establish a brand or service.
So, as I’ve discovered, when you’re the brand and also the designer behind it, and also the voice on the megaphone trying to big it all up, it’s like you’ve multiplied and now all three of you are singing into the void like a choir. When you interact with this page, know that you’re conversing with Leslie, Lester, & Lurkie (a ridiculous and amazing nick name by my sister which I love so much because it carries a feeling of freedom to be silly, irreverent, unpolished.) We are pleased to make your acquaintance.
