Wednesday night on the waterfront felt like exactly what this wine was made for. We launched our first-ever private-label sparkling wine — a collaboration with Haywire Winery that's been years in the making, rooted in a long friendship between their co-founder Christine Coletta and Jean-Francis, and a mutual respect for what BC wine can be.

The result is a traditional-method Brut Nature: bright, structured, and versatile enough to move from oysters to anniversaries to a spontaneous Tuesday glass on the patio.

Ultra-limited at 504 bottles, and now pouring by the glass ($19) and bottle ($80).

Come celebrate something — or nothing at all. That works too. 🥂

We made the list. 🏅

Provence Marinaside has officially been named one of OpenTable's Top 100 Restaurants for Outdoor Dining in Canada for 2026. Still a little stunned (in the best way).

The best part? This list is based on reviews and demand from you, our guests - real diners who pulled up a chair on our patio, ordered the rosé, watched the boats roll in, and decided we were worth coming back for. That means everything to us. To everyone who has dined with us, left a review, or just keeps coming back season after season - thank you. 🙏 And to our team in the kitchen, behind the bar, and on the floor making it happen every shift, this one's yours too.

A few things if you've never been (or it's been a while):

The patio is open and ready for the season
Lobster Festival is on right now 🦞
Weekends book up fast (especially on warmer days!) earlier in the week is your friend

The Mauresque. A Southern French classic.

One of the most under-the-radar cocktails in the South of France: the Mauresque.

Pastis (the licorice-based liqueur the south runs on), a touch of orgeat (almond syrup), topped with cold water. That’s it. An aperitif the locals have been drinking before dinner for decades. Light, slightly sweet, anise-forward, and exactly what you want on a hot patio afternoon.

The good news? You don’t need a flight to Marseille.

We’re pouring Mauresque at Provence Marinaside all summer and it’s on our Happy Hour menu for just $6 (Mon–Sun, 3–5pm & 9–11pm). It’s a favourite of Chef JF for a reason.

Come have one on the patio. The marina makes a pretty convincing stand-in for the Med.

⚽🍝 Tagliatelles au Crabe Dormeur Local (Local Dungeness Crab Tagliatelle)

The world’s coming to Vancouver this summer — so we wanted to give international visitors (and our locals) a real taste of British Columbia, cooked the Provence way.

You’ll find this one on Le Beau Jeu (The Beautiful Game) — our $99 three-course menu running through June and July, built around fresh, locally sourced ingredients like Pacific Coast oysters, BC halibut, and local Dungeness crab, finished with the French and Mediterranean techniques we’ve been doing for over two decades.

This dish: tagliatelle topped with local Dungeness crab in a saffron and espelette sauce that ties the whole thing together. South-of-France soul, West Coast catch.

If you’re in town for the matches and you want somewhere that isn’t a sports bar — pull up a chair on our patio, BC Place a 15-minute walk away. That’s the move.

Matisse is still travelling through the South of France, and this week he landed at Maison Saint Aix. One of the most beautifully situated rosé estates in Provence. Higher elevation, plenty of wind, and the kind of conditions that produce the rosé everyone’s going to be drinking this summer.

He’s tasting their flagship — the AIX Rosé — fruit-forward, super light, fresh, easy on its own and even better with food.

The good news? You don’t have to fly to France to try it.

We’re pouring AIX Rosé all summer long at Provence Marinaside — on the patio, with the seafood it was practically made for, looking out over the marina.

From their vine straight to our table. Come have a glass.

🦞 Lobster Festival is back at Provence Marinaside this week!

If you've been waiting for it — it's officially starting on May 29th. And if you didn't know it was a thing, consider this your heads up.
Every year we put together a Lobster Festival menu, and it's genuinely one of our favourite times to be in the restaurant. The patio's open, the marina's busy, and the kitchen is doing what it does best — fresh seafood, no fuss, done properly.

This year's menu has the classics you'd hope for: lobster bisque, grilled lobster tails, and the full whole lobster experience for when you really want to go in. Bring a date, bring your friends, bring your parents who keep asking when you'll take them somewhere nice. It works for all of it.

A few honest things to know:

Tables book up fast during the festival, especially Friday and Saturday nights. If you have a date in mind, grab it early.
The patio is the move if the weather holds — we'll save you a spot with a view of the water.
It runs for a limited time. Once it's done, it's done until next year.

The best meals look easy.

A fish that arrives glistening. A sauce that pools just so. A glass of rosé poured at exactly the right temperature.

But behind every effortless moment is years of work you don’t see — the cooks who arrive before the sun, the producers tending vines across the sea, the suppliers we’ve built relationships with over decades, the recipes refined a thousand times until they felt simple.

We do the work so your evening doesn’t have to.

Sit down. Pour the wine. Let us take it from here.

Matisse recently travelled to the heart of the Bandol appellation to visit with Laurent Bunan at Domaines Bunan in the village of La Cadière-d’Azur.

Laurent — the first generation of the Bunan family to work the vineyards — walked us through what makes their wines so special: the Mourvèdre grape, deeply typical of Bandol, expressed across their reds, rosés and whites.

We’ve been pouring Bunan wines at Provence Marinaside for 25 years. As Laurent told Matisse: “We are so happy that our wine is in Vancouver in your restaurant with some Provençal food. It is a dream for us.”

The feeling is mutual. A taste of the south of France, poured alongside the food it was made for — that’s the whole idea.

Merci, Laurent. À bientôt.

Local. Sustainable.
Our Seared Line Caught BC Halibut is a celebration of two coasts in one dish — the cold, clean waters of British Columbia meeting the sun-warmed flavours of the Mediterranean.

Flaky halibut, seared until golden, served over couscous with eggplant, zucchini, bell pepper, and a smoked tomato vinaigrette that ties it all together.
