Tasting and comparing two different batches of premium quality Ya Shi Xiang Dan Cong sent by the tea farmer.

Both teas are of exceptionally high grade and quality, with intense fragrance, rich layered texture, and a lingering aroma that stays beautifully in the cup. Each has its own distinctive character, making the choice between them incredibly difficult.

After much comparison, I finally selected the very best one from these two outstanding Ya Shi Xiang teas. The chosen tea is now being prepared for shipment and will soon arrive.

“It is always a joy to welcome friends from afar.”

For a guest who has lived in Hong Kong for more than 70 years, I chose to brew a basket of 1996 Liu An tea. This is an authentic Liu An tea from Anhui Province. It has a complex and layered flavor profile, while the balance of smoothness and subtle spice adds depth, making the tea richer and more intriguing for this special meeting.

Hopefully we can gather again soon to explore different aged teas together, such as vintage pu-erh or aged white tea.

Tonight, I brewed our favorite 2009 Da Hong Pao with close friends to celebrate Mother’s Day.

This traditional-style Da Hong Pao carries a gentle charcoal-roasted aroma with a rich, full-bodied texture. Its lingering sweetness and returning aftertaste stay beautifully on the palate and in the throat long after each sip.
