We have such beautiful, old, wise trees here on Turtle Island. Can you imagine what a hundred+ year old tree has witnessed in its lifetime? 😭

They give us so much, not the least of which is the very air we breathe, but also homes for birds, animals, moss and lichen, food, medicine, mycelial networks, healthy soil, not to mention just an overwhelming sense of calm and wellbeing when we take the time to sit and be with them.

I find it hard to believe that a corporation can have the protections and legal rights of "personhood", but we don't offer those same rights and protection to the trees, when they are essential to our very existence.

I had the privilege of sitting in the presence of this Grey Heron, watching for no less than 90 minutes while they fished and feasted on the shoreline and finally, when the sun was down, took flight and disappeared into the dark.
