Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!

There's so much to be thankful for here on the Irish Loop! The beautiful place we call home, the people who make our communities so special, and the visitors who travel from near and far to experience a little Newfoundland hospitality.

To our wonderful guests, friends, neighbours, and everyone who has stopped in for a meal or stayed with us this year, thank you for being part of the Edge of the Avalon family.

Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend filled with good food, great company, and plenty of reasons to be grateful.

You'll find Edge of the Avalon Inn in Trepassey, at the heart of the Irish Loop and surrounded by some pretty spectacular reasons to take the long way around.

Come for Mistaken Point. Follow the road to the lighthouses. Walk the coastline. Stop when something catches your eye.

And when you're ready to call it a day, we'll be here.

Stay. Dine. Explore. Repeat.

Cape Pine by day. Cape Pine by night.

Perched on a dramatic 315-foot cliff, Cape Pine Lighthouse was built in 1851 and was the first prefabricated cast-iron lighthouse in Newfoundland. More than a century later, it was designated a National Historic Site.

It’s a pretty special namesake for our Cape Pine Lighthouse Suite.

Explore the rugged coastline and spectacular views by day. Then come back to the Inn, sink into the soaker tub, and settle into the suite that carries its name.

More than 500 million years of history, just down the road.

Fall is a beautiful time to discover one of the most extraordinary places on the Southern Avalon.

Just minutes from Edge of the Avalon Inn, Mistaken Point UNESCO World Heritage Site takes you along a dramatic stretch of coastline where some of the world’s oldest evidence of complex life is preserved in the rock.

Tours continue until mid-October, so there’s still time to experience it this season.

Make a day of it. Explore the coast, take in the views, and then head back to Trepassey for a warm meal and a cozy place to stay.

Our Lighthouse Suites at the Inn take their names from three of the lighthouses that have watched over this rugged stretch of the Southern Avalon coastline for generations.

The Cape Race Lighthouse Suite is named for one of the most storied places on the coast, where land meets the North Atlantic in spectacular fashion.

Explore it by day. Come back, get cozy, and settle into the suite that carries its name.

Due to the high winds forecast tomorrow, Saturday, September 19, the lighthouse will be closed for the day.

The Michael Crummey reading has been rescheduled to Sunday, September 20 at 3:00pm. Join us then as Michael reads from The Adversary, which won the prestigious Dublin Literary Award in 2025.

Summer gets a lot of attention around here, but fall?

Fall is for quieter roads, crisp coastal air, long walks with nowhere else to be, and evenings tucked in somewhere warm. It’s a beautiful time to explore the Irish Loop.

And at the end of the day, you’ve got a warm room, a good meal and a place to settle in at Edge of the Avalon Inn.

There’s still plenty of exploring left to do this season! Come spend a few fall days with us.

Cooler days, changing colours, quiet roads and plenty of reasons to make a fall getaway to Trepassey.

Spend the day exploring the coast, hiking, visiting the lighthouses or taking in the incredible landscape around Mistaken Point; then come back to Edge of the Avalon Inn and settle in for a warm meal.
