This is end of the road for us.
We’re sad to announce that TuckShop Kitchen is officially closing on Friday December 22nd.
Thinking back to the journey that started back in 2014 as part convenience store and part sandwich shop in the Junction Triangle, we’re filled with a deep sense of gratitude for such an incredible response the community gave to us. Our goal was to create simple, house made food and snacks for the neighbourhood.
The rest was history.
Now 8+ years later we’re humbled by the food lovers who came from across the city craving our Tuck Royale and Tuck Bacon. From countless pop-ups at craft breweries, events, catering, and festivals, we loved meeting so many people and sharing our passion with you. It was because of your support that bought us such features in , , and Reader’s Choice Award from NOW Magazine.
But running a food business for nearly a decade wasn’t without its struggles. Closing during the pandemic caused us to remodel our business into a takeout window. We sold tuck bacon and burger kits literally from our side door while we worked on the renovation to keep the connection with community, who were so eager to help. After making it successfully through, we opened our 2nd location in Leslieville. Unfortunately, soon after inflation skyrocketed and we could not gain the traction needed to cover the cost to continue operating.
That endeavour has taken a significant toll on us financially and mentally. Upon deep reflection, we have made the decision to shut down the entire business and move on. What made the decision extra difficult is saying goodbye to our most dedicated staff who have worked so hard with us opening the shop, pivoting though the pandemic and continuing to support us to the end.
We invite you to visit us to celebrate the memories and food with us for one last time. In addition to our main menu we are also selling out the rest of our inventory, including tuck bacon, Tuck burger mix, house pickles, Caesar dressing, fry spice, and more. Any purchase made will help support our closing costs and staff.
