Lunar New Year is a time of giving and collective health. As we enter the third year of the pandemic, we see that there are many vulnerable people who will not have access to basic health and survival resources because of the City's policy failures.

In response, we are supporting the Lunar New Year Giveback community fundraiser in support of local communities including: , , and for the month of February.

Money raised will go towards purchasing winter survival gear for those who are unhoused and vulnerable. Items include:

G*i Lan is often seen as a side dish, an add on. But it’s one of the most cherished veggies in Southern Chinese cooking. Flash fried with garlic in the wok, it comes with oyster sauce.

Introducing Lai Wah Heen’s mobile soup kitchen during the gift giving season. Community Fridges Toronto, founded by a group of friends have partnered with local businesses who are hosting community fridges around the city as a step to aid food insecurity. Not everyone is able to have a meal everyday. Community Fridges’s Leslieville location in front of Coffee and Clothing. With each soup donation, we will match with a bowl of rice to ensure a full and filling meal. We are hoping to be able to donate more too!

Health in our culture means making sure it’s a holistic practice, that we give and gain from communities. Thanks again to Community Fridges for volunteering to do this and we included their guide on what to donate if you’re in the area. There are also many other locations!
