Today is Chinese New Year 2016! The year of the MONKEY!

To the Chinese, red represents good fortune, and so around the New Year the color can be seen everywhere in Chinese cities: red lanterns hang in doorways; red paper cutouts adorn windows. And a staple of the holiday: red envelopes, called "hongbao" in Mandarin, or "lai see" in Cantonese, are filled with cash and given by married people to children, unmarried relatives and friends, and employees. The sum is typically an even number, and it shouldn’t contain the number four, which is considered unlucky because it sounds like the Chinese word for death.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend. Our celebration continues at Akco Lounge, come and enjoy our duck special complimented with our harvest from the farm.

It has been an amazing growing season at our farm, with yellow skin water melons, mushrooms, zucchini, duck eggs and to many goodies in the garden to mention......

The end of semester is fast approaching and the feeling of Christmas is in the air. In order to celebrate this monumental occasion, and in the name of a epic party, the INTAC students (International Art Collaborations) are hosting a Ugly Xmas Sweater Party. All proceeds from the event will support INTAC art exhibitions in Toronto, Canada and Guangzhou, China in May 2014.

JUST ANNOUNCED ... We will be naming a Ugly Sweater King and Queen at the party. Bonus points for home rigged blig and/or electronics on your rug of choice.

Tickets are:
$20 and $10 for students
Tickets include 1 alcoholic Tickets are available ahead of time from fellow INTAC members or at the door.
