What an event last night. It was the first time I've been to a live rock concert and man was it amazing. It was also the first time i've done any concert photography ... Taking photos in this environment was particularly challenging but also very rewarding.

Thanks to Kira-Lynn and Carson for inviting me to take pictures of their band Rune performing at Studio Records in Vancouver. I was blown away by their talent and performance. If you have not seen them make sure you do so...

[Update] Hello everyone. Remember me??? Its been over 3 months since my last post so I figured its time to say hi. Well, remember i said i was going to take it easy this summer? Well, life has taken me for a detour. We purchased an investment property in Calgary and i have been spending all my time in Calgary renovating it... (and no, i don't have much experience in renovations) while the rest of the family remains in Vancouver. Ohh how I wish I was doing donairs and bubble tea instead.

Hopefully we will have the renos done by September and life can resume as planned. We did look into thd food truck option, but in the end, the licensing / permits were just too restrictive for what we envisioned. However if anyone of you out there want to sit down and talk about franchising the Original Donair Hut concept or a food truck, I'd be happy to sit down.

Also if anyone is thinking of moving to Calgary and looking for a long term place to rent or vacationing in Calgary and looking for a furnished 3 bedroom house please send me a message.. (and "no" donairs & bubble tea are not included as part of the rental agreement LOL) but i can give you guys a Donair Hut customer discount... Before signing off, a few pictures of our family trip to Banff.

[Update] Well, it's been almost 2 weeks and mom is back in Calgary enjoying retired life. I'm still cleaning, and sorting, cleaning and sorting, cleaning and sorting ..well you get the idea :(. However, I did get a chance to finally walk my kids to school for the first time. I attended my son's first soccer practice and game. I even had a chance to play late evening tennis with my kids... hmmm .. so this is what real life is like for you normal people. I'm enjoying this break immensely although I do miss the routine and your smiling faces. Hope all is well..

[The Aftermath ....] well, the transition is done, I'm fully moved out of Donair Hut and Ahmed, the new owner, is fully operational. As you can imagine, my wife and kids are not very happy with me.... Guess what I'll be doing the next while???? I didn't think I had this much stuff. Any volunteers? arghhhh

It has been an amazing week seeing all you guys again (many I haven't seen for years who made your way here to say goodbye) it means a lot to us. Have a great long Easter long weekend

[Note to self] Don't post "I'm done in 13 days" notes on Saturday mornings. Man, you guys did a number on us yesterday. I think some people waited 50 minutes for their Donair =(. Whoever has the "lets ALL pick on Matt now" buzzer please be gentle with me...Please?!!! It's actually my fault.. I should've expected it and be better prepared. [Sad News ...] With great sadness we would like to inform you all that March 31st will be the last day of operation of Donair Hut under our management. A few days ago, we have reached an agreement to sell Donair Hut to Ahmed and his lovely family.. While they are not affiliated with us, they have extensive experience in the donair business and they will deliver their own (and certainly more authentic) spin on donairs. More importantly, they promised to treat you all with the attention and love that Mom, Chanel, Chantelle, Emily, Nancy, Eric, Maggie, Canita, Shane, Devon, Daphane, Keith, Kirsten, Daii, Robin, and I have tried to give you every day, every shift, and every donair and bubble tea the last 7 years.

It has been an incredible journey, where we overachieved thanks to your adoration and support. But I must send mom off riding into the sunset so she can finally enjoy her well deserved retirement, and my sister will be attending post secondary education. As for myself, I am grateful and blessed to have crossed paths with you all and I hope you’ll allow me to serve you guys in other capacities .. perhaps as your family photographer? Or as your faithful realtor? (I am open to other suggestions also)

So let's really enjoy these next 13 days. From now til the March 31st, we will open 7 days a week (yes, even Easter weekend). Please stop by, even to say hi and goodbye. It would mean a world to mom, chantelle, chanel, and I to be able to say a final thank-you to you all.

[schedule change]. Just to let everyone know that we have switched over to 7days a week operation starting today. YUP!! We are open Monday's and holidays so you guys don't need to guilt me about "craving a Donair on Monday and coming here but [we're] closed". Monday's are 11-7pm. Hope to see you soon

Trip is almost half over and we are at Cinque Terre, Italy. Food is amazing and scenery is absolutely beautiful. I now understand why God is prevalent here... Because this area is truly worthy of being "God's country"... Note to self: need to work even harder so I can retire here ;). We will see you in 5 more days. Miss you all every much. Caio!

[schedule change] Hello all. Hope everyone is having a great new year. Just wanted to drop you guys a note that we will be closed starting this Sunday Feb 7th and reopen Tuesday Feb 16th. My wife and I will be off to Italy -- without the kids for the first time in 10 years. Frankly, I'm a bit nervous about it --- I'm not sure how to handle that awkward moment where my wife and I stare at each other and have nothing to talk about... HELP!!! I hope I don't come back divorced :{ But before then I got a few more days of work .... Ciao
