Here we are folks! Open today!
August 27th from 9:30-5:30

Rewind to August 7th, when we closed our doors because of the wildfire.

At the time, we had no idea it would be three long weeks before we could open them again.

Those weeks were heavy. Our community was hurting, people were losing homes, and when we were finally able to return to the shop, we came back to another hard reality: our entire inventory had to be thrown away.

Everything we had prepared and stocked... was gone.

So we started again.

For the past seven days, our team (along with some incredible past employees who came back to help) has been cooking, prepping, stocking and rebuilding this little shop from scratch.

And today, the doors are open again.

There’s still rebuilding ahead, but this feels like a pretty important first step.

To everyone who checked in, shared our posts, offered help, encouraged us and told us you’d be here when we reopened...

Thank you. We’re ready to begin again. ❤️!

Flambé at Home reopens Thursday, August 27

If you’ve been waiting for a way to support us, this is the week we need you. 🙏

Come grab meals. Fill your fridge or freezer. Tell a friend. And if you can’t make it in Thursday, Friday or Saturday, please share this post so someone in your circle can.

August has been something we never could have predicted.

For Flambé, it meant:

→ Closing our doors and evacuating for 12 days
→ Our employees losing hours
→ Returning to throw out our entire inventory
→ Reordering every ingredient from scratch
→ Putting hundreds of labour hours back into the kitchen
→ Rebuilding our coolers and our business from zero

Since this happened, we’ve seen hundreds of comments from people telling us:

“We’ll be there when you reopen.”

That support has meant more than we can explain.

And now… we’re reopening. 🥹

Proud, Nervous, Grateful, Excited, Exhausted, Inspired, the list goes on.

The next few days are when those words can turn into something incredibly meaningful for our small business.

Every meal purchased helps us rebuild.
Every person you tell helps.
Every share helps.

Right now, the livelihood of this business is very much in the hands of our community, and we have never felt more supported by that community than we do today.

Homes matter. People matter. And part of making a community whole again is keeping its restaurants, shops, farms, wineries, employees and small businesses alive through the months after the disaster.

The evacuation was days, but the recovery will take many months for our local businesses.

Summerland businesses seek government help, urge tourists to return after wildfire

For 12 days, during the Bald Range Wildfire Evacuation in British Columbia, the immediate concern was:
People
Animals
Homes
Safety
Firefighters
Neighbours

That absolutely remains important.

But now, Jordan is facing what the Bald Range Wildfire means for his own business.

"The sheer volume of waste is shocking"

For a food production business, reopening doesn't mean just opening up the doors tomorrow and getting you all the faves.

The days ahead we will drive to restock our inventory so we can invite you all back soon to help us recover 🙏🏼

All of our Summerland businesses will accept as much support as you can give in the months ahead.

For most of the past 12 days, Jordan's attention has been on everyone else affected by this fire. ❤️

This week, he finally walked back into his own business and had to begin understanding what recovery means for Flambé.

"This is our livelihood. Today, we're throwing away our entire store of products... It's a pretty heart-wrenching feeling"

Some people are facing losses far greater than ours. At the same time, the next chapter of this disaster is beginning for Summerland businesses.

We will need a lot of help to keep our business alive.
