Have You Been Thinking Of Getting A LongArm Quilting Machine But Can’t Afford It?
Hi everyone, my husband‘s aunt Shirley has retired from long arm Quilting and her machine, a Gammil,is up for sale at an incredible price. This price includes pantographs, threads and everything you need to get started. It also includes delivery within a reasonable distance. (Aunt Shirley is in the Dresden Ontario area) If you’re interested in checking out this once in a lifetime opportunity just email Donna Naylor at the bottom of this post.
“The machine itself is just over 20 years old (we can’t quite remember exactly when Mom got it). It has always been well maintained by a Gammil rep and to our knowledge, continues to work perfectly well. The machine was cut down from its original size so it would fit in Mom’s apartment. It now measures approximately 112” long (including dials on ends), 52” at its widest and the main frame is 42” high, with the top of the sewing head at 55” high. She has done quilts of all sizes on it. Queen size and smaller fit easily; for king size, she folded over the sides to quilt the middle first, and then repositioned the quilt to do the sides.
We are asking $1,500, which will include the following:
The long arm machine, which my brothers will dismantle, transport to the buyer (if not too far away), and set it back up again (they will also bring all of the items below)
The manual for the machine
Reference books on long arm quilting and continuous line quilting
A supply of machine oil
2 lamps with clamps (they attach to the machine frame) for better lighting if needed
Additional thread holders (I believe these are used if using multiple colours on one quilt)
Tools and brushes
120” tape measure
A full drawer-bin of thread and dozens of bobbins
A drawer-bin of scrolls of stitching patterns to lay onto the machine (I’m guessing there are at least 50-60)
Tracing paper and transfer paper for making your own patterns
Chalk and erasable marking pens
And probably a few other bits and bobs
We can also temporarily store all of this for a month or so if you need time to create space. I can send several photos and a short video of the machine, and of some of the items listed above if anyone is interested.”

Acres of pumpkins and tons of fun! 🎃✨

Rob and I spent Sunday at Miller’s Farm and Market near Manotick with our grandkids! A huge thank you to our terrific Realtor LeClerc for hosting such a wonderful family event.

The highlight was definitely heading into the patch to pick out our complimentary pumpkins. The hardest part? Deciding between thousands of pumpkins when the rule is: you can only choose what you can carry! 🎃💪

Swipe to see a few snaps from our fun day out! 🍂👇

Hit the trails at last! 🥾🍂

Before moving to the Kemptville area, I was blown away by just how many wonderful walking and hiking trails there are right in our backyard. I fully intended for us to get out and explore them constantly once we arrived.

Of course, moving in took priority—and then August hit with the wettest weather anyone around here can remember! Between the soggy ground and the swarms of mosquitoes, our trail plans were put on hold.

Now that the weather has cooled down, the bugs are gone, and we finally have most everything settled in the house, it was high time to start exploring!

This week, we took a trip to Limerick Forest, located just a short drive from our new home. Spanning over 20,000 acres, it's a beautiful community forest packed with multi-use trails, boardwalks through wetlands, and quiet, pine-scented paths. It was the absolute perfect spot for a crisp early-autumn walk.

Here are a few pictures from our excursion! 📸👇

About time!

Quilts reflect the artistry of their creators and the stories of the communities they represent.

The log cabin quilt (circa 1800s) featured in this stamp issue includes a barn raising pattern and consists mostly of solid and printed cotton tabby, with red wool twill centres.

Created by Frederica Matilda Tompkins of East Florenceville (now District of Carleton North), New Brunswick, it was gifted to the Royal Ontario Museum by Mrs. Audrey L. Livingstone.
