A good meal can be about so much more than the food.

The familiar faces. The conversations. The staff who know your order. The customers who become friends.

The people who walk through our doors are what make Ches’s what it is. From our management and staff to the customers who continue to choose us, to the suppliers and partners who help us succeed.

Ches’s has always been a family business, and we believe in treating everyone who walks through our doors like part of that family.

Good food can certainly bring people together. But the people can make it that much more special. Ches lived that in 1951, and we still live it today, 75 years later.

At Ches’s, we always serve the dressing underneath. But what’s your preference? Dressing on top, dressing on the bottom, or are you an on-the-side/ dress it yourself person?

No matter the answer, we can probably all agree on one thing: there’s no wrong way when it looks this good. 🤤

This Labour Day, we’re celebrating the people behind 75 years of Ches’s.

For generations, countless people have peeled potatoes, battered fish, prepared meals, served tables, washed dishes, answered phones and welcomed customers through our doors.

Some stayed for a season. Some stayed for decades. Every one of them has played a part in our story.

Today, we celebrate our team — past and present — and thank them for the hard work, care and pride that have helped make 75 years possible.

Happy Labour Day from all of us at Ches’s.

We may be famous for our fish and chips, but there’s another Ches’s favorite that keeps people coming back.

Crispy, golden fried chicken served up with our famous fresh-cut fries. There's a reason it's such a fan favorite.

Take a little trip down memory lane with us.

It’s sometimes hard to comprehend just how much history lives behind the Ches’s name.

On this, our 75th year, we’re reminded of how fortunate we’ve been. To remain family owned. To have generations of families make us part of their traditions. And to have a community that has supported us through it all.

We’ve been doing this a long time. A very long time.

And we couldn’t have done it without you.

Let's talk parking! Did you know there are plenty of 2 hour parking spots nearby? All the spots along Freshwater Road in front of the store are 2 hour, as are some spots across the street! Plus, Spencer Street also has two hour spots. So don't let the parking stop you from dropping by today and visiting us! These photos were taken just a couple of minutes ago.

Here's a welcome from Ches Barbour himself! This photo was taken sometime in the late 1950s. If anyone out there has a closer time idea, we'd love to hear it.

This page is for our Freshwater Road location, and we intend to use it this year to focus on our 70th anniversary and our history!
