We want to thank everyone for your support and incredibly generous donations to the GoFundMe for the Wigan Pier. Although we are hopeful for a rebuild in the same location, we have no timeline on when that might be completed, and all efforts to find a temporary location have been unsuccesful.
We believe it is unfair to hold on to all of your donations as we cannot forsee the Wigan Pier's future, and, to this end, have made the decision to refund all donations made to the gofundme organization on our behalf.
Thank you again for everything you have done for us and we hope to be doing business once again with you in the future. 💚

On February 21st 2022, a devastating fire broke out in Tantalus Mall in Squamish, BC. Thankfully no one was hurt, but many of the residents who lived in the building have been displaced and there has been severe damage to many of the businesses inside. One of the businesses impacted by the fire is The Wigan Pier Restaurant, a well known and popular favorite among Squamish locals. Until now, this was one of the oldest restaurants in Squamish operating out of Tantalus Mall for 28 years. Unfortunately, the damage to the building’s infrastructure is irreparable and as such, The Wigan Pier will have to find a new home. The outpouring of messages of support from the community and beyond has been overwhelming. We are hoping that we can raise enough so that we can continue to operate in the Squamish community that we have called home for so long. We are setting up this GoFundMe campaign to try to generate much needed funds to get us back on our feet and starting again in a new location.

What you may not know is that Amanda Lally was officially going to be the new owner of The Wigan Pier with the sale to be finalized on the 22nd (the day after the fire) but that dream came to an abrupt end due to this terrible tragedy. As a young entrepreneur she has come a long way from her hometown in Ireland and shown her utmost dedication to The Wigan Pier spending the last 18 months working with Greg to renovate the restaurant. If you know Amanda, you know she puts a fantastic amount of energy and effort into her work and she has been training to be the head cook this whole time.

We are asking the community to help support the re-establishment of The Wigan Pier in Squamish so the legacy can live on. Please consider donating to support the cost of setting up in a new location.

Wigan Pier has called Squamish home for 28 years and we are so proud to be part of this community. We are just devasted by this tragedy.

We would like to thank everyone for their kind words of support during this difficult time. We are relieved to hear everyone in the mall area and those living in the apartments above are safe.

Thank you to Squamish Anglican Church for providing temporary shelter to the residents that have been displaced and a special thank you to all the first responders, Squamish Emergency Services and Squamish Fire and Rescue.
