September’s live music lineup is here, with a free show every Sunday at The Backyard.

September 6: Ella Johnson from 5pm
Ella gets the month started with a warm, laid-back set that should feel right at home on a Sunday evening at the pub.

September 13: JennaMae from 3pm to 6pm, followed by Zack Walter from 6pm to 8pm
JennaMae is a Sea to Sky favourite with a soulful voice and a sound shaped by pop, funk and R&B. Zack is a Squamish country-folk artist with a rich baritone voice and honest songs inspired by real life, love and family.

September 20: Ted Kim from 5pm to 8pm
Ted is an award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Chilliwack. His acoustic sound blends contemporary folk with the alternative rock influences of the ’90s and early 2000s.

September 27: Riverbank Roses from 6pm to 8pm
Local duo Riverbank Roses blend pop, folk and soul, pairing Olivia’s soulful vocals with Carter’s country-influenced style. Expect a mix of heartfelt originals and carefully chosen covers.

Every show is completely free. Come down for dinner, settle in with a drink and spend a Sunday listening to some great live music in your neighbourhood pub.

There’s a little something happening every day this week at The Backyard.

Monday: Kids’ meals are half price, plus our milkshake menu
Tuesday: $5 off all burgers and half-price bottles of wine
Wednesday: Trivia with Shane Fry at 7:30pm
Thursday: Local taps are $6 all day
Friday: Dentville ginger beer cocktails for $10
Saturday: Brunch from 11am to 2pm and $6 Steamworks taps
Sunday: Brunch from 11am to 2pm, followed by Ella Mathison playing live from 5pm to 8pm

Sunday’s show is completely free, as always. Whether you’re joining us for a family dinner, trivia with friends, weekend brunch or a bit of live music, we’ll see you at the pub.

Here’s a little sample of what we have in store tonight.

Niko is playing a free live show at The Backyard today from 5pm, bringing a relaxed acoustic set and a great mix of songs to ease us into the evening.

Come grab some food, settle in with a drink and enjoy a few hours of live music in the pub. The show is completely free and everyone is welcome.

Final week to get your Backyard in the Wild submissions in.

We’ve loved seeing Backyard merch pop up everywhere from around Squamish to all the way over in New Zealand. Thank you to everyone who has sent us a photo so far. There have been some brilliant ones, and choosing a favourite is not going to be easy.

If you’d still like to enter, submissions close September 5.

Here’s how it works:

Send us a photo of your Backyard merch out in the wild. If we feature your photo, we’ll send you a $10 Backyard gift card. Once submissions close, we’ll choose our overall favourite, and the photographer will receive a $100 gift card.

Email your original photo to [email protected] or send it through Facebook or Instagram Messenger. Please avoid graphics or heavy filters, and only submit photos you’re happy for us to share. If anyone else is clearly pictured, please make sure they’re happy for us to post it too.

Women’s netball is coming to Squamish, and we’re very happy to be supporting it.

The league’s first season will run from mid-September through to early December, bringing women together through sport and building a new local community around the game. That’s something we care deeply about and are very proud to get behind.

We’ll also be hosting a league launch, sign-up and information night here at The Backyard on September 14. More details will follow soon.

A couple of good-looking summer favourites getting their moment.

Our margarita is bright, refreshing, and made for sipping on a warm Squamish afternoon.

And for something on the fresher side, the strawberry and pecan summer salad brings together sweet strawberries, crunchy pecans, and plenty of colour. Exactly the sort of thing that feels right on a sunny patio.

Come grab a table, preferably outside, and give them a go.
