Shooting this out into the universe again…

Well, hello everyone! Have you ever had the experience where you’re not sure if something actually happened or if maybe you dreamed it?!? Well I have something embarrassing to admit. I can’t get out of my brain that somebody reached out to me about a function on December 24, but I’m not sure that I didn’t dream it. Why? Well because I’ve been creating a post to remind everybody to start booking their Christmas stuff (because it’s gonna be here before we know it), and I’m not sure that my brain didn’t create something in my sleep. No one on my staff remembers anything about it and I can’t find an email, text message, Facebook or insta message 🤔
Sooooo, if you have reached out to me about a December 24th function, and I haven’t responded, could you do so again, otherwise it was likely just in my crazy head. (Am I that old!?!)

With that said…. It’s time to start thinking about your Christmas parties, functions, staff parties, office parties, family parties, school parties you name it. We need to get this booked now. If you could see my calendar already you’d understand why. We cater in your home, at the office, at your facilities and will gladly open in the evenings and on weekends to use our restaurant space.

Mondays…do you groan too? Honest moment here…I don’t do mornings any day, never have, but always push through. But I’m better when I have a little bit of weekend (which this past one I didn’t) anyhooo GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!! (And I’m saying that without coffee)
We’ve just come off an incredibly busy week and are jumping right back into another. It’s always amazing to me the switch to comfort food as soon as it gets just a touch cooler. I LOVE the fall and everything that comes with it, especially soup so staying tuned we will be amping up our soup options again very soon.
Today’s feature is a pot pie and salad special with a warm bun and butter. This includes a hot drink and dessert for only $20!
And don’t forget our budget savvy belly buster is only $10 Monday to Friday. We have a different half sandwich (set by the day) and half bowl of soup of your choice from our list.
As far as Mondays go…I think today will be pretty darn good!

It’s that time of week again…hello everyone, it’s Simcoe Farmers Market Eve!!!! The best day of the week!
Once again we hauled “you know what” and pounded out a whole bunch of awesome food for market tomorrow. I’m not gonna bore you with posting everything that we’ve done but I’ll attach some pictures that show you how incredible the offerings are for tomorrow.
See you there open under the grandstand from 8 till 3 come and fill up for the week!

What’s your favourite go to meal when it starts to get cooler? This time of year we amp up our heat and eat meals to attempt to keep our freezers full. Summer time is more BBQ stuff but fall screams casseroles, layered meals, pastas, roast beef, stews, pot pies, meatloaf and everything in between. I’d love your opinion and I’ll take family secrets too 😉 the last time I did this I learned about cowboy casserole and it’s now a staple in our home!

As many of you know, we have been running a “pay it forward” program that we have named “Buy One and Donate” for four years. When we launched the program in 2023 it was because we recognized this need for many because of food insecurities. But mostly because of something I witnessed one cool November morning. I won’t get into the long story now but I’m happy to discuss if anyone is interested. To date we have served well over 8000 meals to anyone who chooses to use the program. This is a community supported/funded initiative and internally we provide the time and service for this, we don’t receive government funding. Based on No judgement, you may have forgotten your wallet, maybe your kiddo realized as they walked past the restaurant that they forgot their lunch or maybe it’s simply that you are hungry and don’t have food.

Anyway, this week I had the pleasure of speaking with, then meeting a gentleman from Brantford who also recognized the need to help in his area. Stavros Karalis launched the Pass The Puck Forward program on September 1st and has hit the ground running, so to speak. He has multiple businesses in Brantford participating which in my opinion is a dream! Imagine the difference that could be made with multiple participating locations in our community! It’s not competition its belief in humanity…AMAZEBALLS!
Anyway if you could take the time to jump over to Steve’s page and follow along with his new adventure I would love that. One small step at a time, making one persons day a little better doesn’t hurt anyone.

Today was one of those days, maybe it was the slight change in weather, maybe it was the busy-ness of the start of the week, regardless today I seemed a bit scatter brained, I had so much going on in my busy brain that I couldn’t focus. I did a lot of s**t today don’t get me wrong but everything I did in spaced out stages, which undoubtably was super annoying for my staff. Anyway today I managed to clean all the outside windows, hang up some new signage, create and order some fall decor, completed some more R&D on drinks for my new canner, worked on the schedule (iykyk 😜), oh and deliver over 900 pancakes…but the most exciting part of today was receiving and setting up a new to us line of handmade jewelry from
Liv’s (Olivia Hazen) this sweet young lady has some incredible talent and I’m happy to now have these available for you to purchase. Here is her story in her words…

I started making jewelry when I was 5 years old when my aunt gave me a bunch of her old beads and string. I had a lot of fun with it so I kept making it as a hobby and when I got older and my stuff got better friends and family would ask if they could buy some of my pieces so then I tried selling it at a few craft sales and that went pretty well. The first piece of jewelry I ever sold was to my great grandmother who was 100 years old.

I purchased a key chain this summer from Liv which was blue and silver (SMBA ball colours) with silver baseball and bat on it and I love it! So when you have a chance come on in and take a look, maybe pick up some gifts for your upcoming celebrations, and support a young, small business entrepreneur. She also does custom works…just sayin’!

I feel the season changing as we work our way through the week. This makes me happy! I love fall! I love the cooler weather, the food that comes at this time of year, the flavours of local amazingness, the overall smell of the air, that you can throw on a cozy sweater or sweatshirt, snuggle up with a blankie and a cuppa somethin’.
But with this time of year we also start to get super busy (I know…it’s a good problem) and being super busy we book up super fast. Sooooo here is my last call for the food truck for the 2026 season. We will be winterizing it soon for hibernation but don’t want to miss your fall functions and events. So quick!!! Happy Friday everyone! FISH FRIDAY! Yep it’s the last day of the week for most so how about filling your belly with a huge plate of yummy fish and chips! We make our own batter from scratch, battered to order, cut local potatoes and double fry them, our tartar is also made fresh and from scratch loaded with lemon, dill, dill pickles and red onion and lastly my picked coleslaw…what a way to make your day just a little better.
The displays are loaded up with fresh everything but specifically we have freshly baked cookies, scones, pizza pockets, brownies (oh the brownies…they deserve their own post 😋) quiche, sausage rolls and so much more!
We are slowly working away at filling up the freezer with all your favs (this will be our focus more so next week)
Anyhooo…come see us today we have belly filling, yummy grub!

Wow what a day!! Actually it’s been quite a week. I wanted to jump on here and send a huge shout out thank you to everyone that we had the pleasure of interacting with today. You showed up in a big way, at the market, at the restaurant and for multiple caters. My people worked their butts off to get to and through today and will undoubtably show up tomorrow to rock again!!
We had sell outs at both the market and at the restaurant and I couldn’t be more proud of the product, atmosphere and service that was provided today. So thank you! To you the customers/guests (especially the awesome ones that send us messages of extra love) and to my staff, thank you, I appreciate you and can’t wait to do it all over again tomorrow.
