Greenbelt Day of Action (Nov. 13th)

The Ontario government is pushing forward with its plan to build two enormous new highways - the 413 and the Bradford Bypass - through what little green space is left in Southern Ontario, despite huge opposition from local communities. If built, the highways would destroy sections of the Greenbelt, grow Ontario’s carbon emissions, cost billions of dollars, and ultimately make traffic worse.

The provincial government needs to know that the people of Ontario do not want more unnecessary megahighways.
This Saturday, November 13th, communities across the GTA will hold events to tell the government that we want Greenbelt, NOT Asphalt.

ON gov't passes regulation to exempt proposals from Environmental Bill of Rights

"Citing the unprecedented nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ontario government recently passed a regulation that temporarily exempts governmental proposals from having to comply with Part II of the Environmental Bill of Rights (EBR)."

Richard Lindgren writes that CELA is concerned that exemptions from the Environmental Bill of Rights (EBR) during the COVID-19 pandemic go too far and avoid public scrutiny unnecessarily.
