September is Hunger Action Month
September is Hunger Action Month, an opportunity to understand why hunger is growing in communities across Ontario - because record high food bank use in Sharbot Lake area is only part of the story.
At North and Central Frontenac Food Bank we see every day that the root causes of hunger are being driven by public policies that affect people and families’ ability to make ends meet. But by understanding how poverty and hunger are connected, we can take meaningful action that works towards lasting change.

Thank you to Food Banks Canada for the money we received from the Food Banks Canada 2026 Capacity Boost Grant!! Between the grant and generous donations from our community we were able to replace a small, old, leaky freezer with a new, larger, more energy efficient freezer! We now have room to take advantage of large offers of meat from Feed Ontario.

Thank you to everyone that came out to the joint North and Central Frontenac Food Bank and The Treasure Trunk & The Treasure Chest Open House!
We were happy to show off our new spaces and have chats with so many people from the community.
A huge thank you to Mike from Seed to Sausage for donating and barbecuing the sausages and hot dogs. They were delicious!!
Thank you to the volunteer face painters and balloon artists. You guys were great!
I would also like to thank the volunteers from the food bank and the Treasure Chest for getting everything organized and running well.
If I had been thinking I would have taken a lot of pictures, I did not but here is Mike barbecuing sausages and hot dogs...way to go Mike!

THANK YOU TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS.

WE HAVE 38 VOLUNTEERS THAT HELP KEEP THE FOOD BANK RUNNING. THEY CLEAN, SHOP, SORT AND PUT AWAY FOOD, GIVE OUT FOOD TO OUR CLIENTS, PICK UP FOOD AND THEY ATTEND EVENTS TO GET THE WORD OUT ABOUT THE FOOD BANK.

OUR BOARD HAS WORKED HARD IN THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS TO ARRANGE FOR OUR INCORPORATION, OUR ACCREDITATION WITH Food Banks Canada AND TO ARRANGE OUR MOVE.

THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO. TOGETHER WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!
