Last “official” day of summer ☀️ 🏖️ 🌊 vacation. Our team is ready for you, but they’re also ready for some rest! We’re OPEN today 9am-3pm…closing a couple of hours earlier than usual so that we can keep smiling and loving life!

Come in, we’re ready for you! If you’re planning to order takeout for the beach, do it early as the kitchen will close at 3pm sharp!

All lunches are boxed and labelled for your guests to select their favourite! No one will complain about a staff meeting when Gourmet Girl is delivering lunch!

And this goodbye hits even harder for us at work AND at home as our sweet Mia leaves the coast to pursue her dream of being a veterinarian. She’s off to University of Guelph in a couple of days and we couldn’t be more proud!

Mia has been the Gourmet Girl cheerleader since she was a baby! Our family has mixed feelings about what it meant for Mia to be a kid growing up in a restaurant; countless hours of waiting in the back office for mom or dad to pack it in for the day so we could go home for dinner, the ups and downs of cancelled quiet days at home when the cafe needed us more, and the thrill of the promised extended vacation time away from the biz so that she could have us all to herself. We’ve travelled to fabulous and far away places where the calls of the cafe couldn’t interfere with our family time. We’ve struggled and cried, we’ve laughed and had good times and we’ve proudly turned the cafe to a home away from home where the team we have has also become family to the three of us.

It’s been a ride, and we’ll carry on, but it won’t be business as usual without our Mia. Saying goodbye to our girl as she moves across the country will be agonizing, but so exciting at the same time. You can all fully expect us to hop a flight when she needs us, abandon the til when she calls and offers humble brags on her progress to anyone who asks!

We love you Mia! You’ve got this! 💫
