You never know what you’ll uncover while working in a historic hotel.
Today, our maintenance crew found this tiny vintage measuring tape tucked away above an old ceiling, where it had likely been hidden for decades. It’s so small it fits in the palm of my hand, yet it tells a story of the many people who have worked on this beautiful historic hotel over the years.
Discoveries like this are a reminder that preserving a historic building means preserving its history—one hidden treasure at a time
Vintage Master TUFBOY “Brute Blade” tape measure, marked 30BW.
A few interesting details:
* Brand: Master
* Model: TUFBOY Brute Blade 30BW
* Era: Likely from the 1950s to 1970s.
* Construction: All-metal case with a chrome finish, made to withstand heavy use.
* Feature: The front is stamped “INSIDE MEASURE ADD 2 INCHES,” meaning the case itself is exactly 2 inches long, so when measuring inside a window or doorway, you add 2 inches to the tape reading.
