The Community Catalyst category celebrates entrepreneurs who prioritize community wellbeing and use their businesses as tools for positive social change.
Dani Genest (Skip a Beet - Meal Delivery Service ) – Skip a Beet Meal Delivery Service 🥗
Dani has built a social-impact model grounded in community care and accessibility. Skip a Beet serves two groups at once: people needing affordable, accessible food and entrepreneurs starting their businesses. Through affordable commercial kitchen access, hands-on coaching, and a "say yes to every request" donation policy, Dani is reducing barriers to food access and entrepreneurship.
"I view entrepreneurship as a form of community care. Skip a Beet is not only a business, but a tool for reciprocity—helping ensure people have access to food, opportunity, and dignity within our province."
Launne Kolla (Reroute Saskatchewan ) – Reroute Saskatchewan ♻️
Launne saw a gap between usable items being thrown away and people in need, so she built Reroute to bridge that divide. In just two years, her business has diverted over 115,000 pounds from the landfill, served 500+ clients, and supported over 50 organizations. Through initiatives like her annual Christmas hamper program and tree fundraiser, she has raised over $8,000 to provide warm meals and clothing to the unhoused population.
"Reroute exists to demonstrate that businesses can be more than service providers, they can be active participants in building stronger, more connected communities."
