The Write Cup Bookstore Cafe, owned by Partridge Island Publishing, aims to be the literary hub of Saint John and, we hope, the entire Atlantic Provinces. We combine our passion for reading and writing with a strong commitment to supporting our local community. We understand that life continues after 6 p.m., so we offer fantastic coffee and a welcoming atmosphere that we believe the community will

love. We are here for writers, readers, coffee enthusiasts, evening meet-ups, board game players, knitters and even those who arrive too early for the hockey game. We are here for everyone.

This week, we're going to take a look at author Mila Maxwell and her book, Finding Lady Baltimore.

Mila Maxwell is an author from Clare, Nova Scotia, with a deep-rooted passion for storytelling and a love of the outdoors. A proud French Acadian, Mila draws inspiration from both her cultural heritage and her adventurous lifestyle, including her role as a volunteer firefighter. She lives in Sussex, New Brunswick, with her husband Jeremy, son Bennett, and two French Bulldogs. When not writing, you can find Mila out in nature, at the gym, or helping others through her work in the community.

Need some help working on your novel?
Do all your characters sound the same?

Join us at The Write Cup Bookstore Cafe for the writing workshop: Conveying Emotion through Sensation workshop by Mandie Dufour, RMT, and author of Devour.

This workshop is meant to get to the heart of the matter when it comes to emotions and sensations.

Some people go cold with anger. Some people go into a fiery rage with their blood pumping painfully in their ears. Learning how you and others feel different emotions will help deepen your characters and avoid carbon copy emotions.

This is a great workshop to learn more about yourself, your characters, and others.

It's Monday!

This week, our best-sellers are all children's books, which is great because we are trying to keep kids and adults entertained this week with author readings, a writing workshop for people interested in writing children's books, and a kids crafting event!

So let's see what everyone was buying last week!

#1 Mr. Myles BIG Feelings by Allan Johnson. There was no surprise here when Allan Johnson came to do a reading; people came to listen and buy, and this is such a cute book.

#2 A Fleurlings Field Guide by Kaitlin Hoyt is an adorable take on a traditional field guide, but full of amazingly creative art and many plant-monster hybrids. It's too cute to ignore.

#3 Princess Melly and the Garden of Kindness by Allan Johnson is a sweet book that teaches children about the power of empathy, compassion, and helping others.

#4 Trucks by Masen Grasse is a book for children about, well, Trucks. Check out this cute book by a young author.

#5 Pigeons by Lauren Oulton. This is a wonderful book full of cute, comical pigeons, a great, easy read for small children.
