The final frontier, friends! Tonight at 8pm, we close up for the year! Come visit and get your fill of custom-made real-fruit soft-serve, and help clear out the freezers!

100% of proceeds support One Straw Society and local food security programs, including the Fruit Share Project, which is where most of the fruit comes from for your ice cream!

LAST WEEKEND! We may open for a few special days in the winter, but this weekend is officially our last weekend of the season. We'd love to see you to say hello (and goodbye)!

Fall flavours are on! Along with the fave, caramel apple pie, try any fruit with warm cinnamon chai spice for a taste of autumn.

🍒 Black cherry cinnamon chai in sweet cream
🫐 Italian plum, blueberry & bay in tart froyo
🍎 crabapple & spearmint (in froyo if you want sour, or sweet cream for smooth)

Ice cream is the sweet hook; food systems are the bigger story.

You know those fancy fruits you get in your treats at Good News Ice Cream? Roasted italian plum, cinnamon apple pie, blackberry, black cherry, tart golden plum, fig, vanilla quince, etc etc etc.....

They were picked by community volunteers. From trees that would have dropped that fruit and rotted, attracting bears and rats to back yards.

Instead, that fruit was rescued and picked at peak freshness, some given to the pickers, some given to elderly tree owners who can't pick any more, some added to subsidized foodboxes, and some bringing people together to chat & chop (like these lovely folks here). This fruit is a tool to build community connections, teach new skills and orient people in how to use equipment in the Tool Library like steam juicers and pressure canners.

And in the end, you bring your friends and family for a delicious, local, sustainable ice cream with REAL FRUIT - which is awesome in itself - but then you wander our community gardens and read the signs about co-planting, solar power, the tool library, and community kitchen. And hopefully, it raises enough funds to keep our community gardens going & growing by One Straw Society.

Come for the cone.
Stay for the cause.

And just like that... School's back, and fall is flirting with the trees and the clouds, dropping a leaf here and there as a warning.

We'll stay open Saturday & Sunday through September, and then play it by ear. We expect to close for the season in October.
