Hey Roberts Creek! We've been officially open for 25 days over the last 6 weeks, and it's been BANANAS! Ya'll clearly love your ice cream! 🥰

We are looking to hire an ice cream shop lead!

It's hot, it's sweaty, it's delicious, it's long days, it's good tunes, it's a finicky machine that sometimes needs tinkering, it's fresh fruit, it's wonderful kind people, and it's all a part of a bigger story about food security.

You'll help with all things ice cream, along with some inventory, ordering & scheduling.

$26/hour, Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon. Exact schedule can be flexible, but must be available at least 3 out of those 4 days each week, now until October, potentially longer. You should have experience in customer service and love it! 😁

WHEWWWW!!! We've been open 4 weekends now, and it has blown our socks off! We thought we would just try out a cute little ice cream shop idea and see if anyone would come. 1 machine, a couple of people, and some beautiful fruit and ice cream bases.

We did not expect this kind of community response! THANK YOU!

Thank you for your patience with the crowds, thank you for waiting over a half hour even get to the window to order sometimes, thank you for your understanding as we run out of strawberries, then quince, then plums...

We need a reset! We are so grateful for you giving us a chance, and in turn, supporting local food security!

Monday, July 6, we are open 1 - 5pm (closing early). We'll be open next Friday with fresh fruit and ready for you.

Raspberries are in and they're fresh! And even better, we harvested a giant spearmint patch in the garden, made a gorgeous cool mint syrup, and now you can mint-up ANYTHING.

Have we told you the story of our SIGN & logo? The talented, community-minded designer, Leisha (from Local Tourist) created this adorable berry-centric logo - isn't it cute???

With a little help from our own Alix to wrap up the colours & vectors (only because Leisha went and birthed a whole new human into the world before we could finish), a plywood cutout by Jason & Ed, outlining by Ellis, painting by Clay, and mounting by Casandra, Katy and Morgan, this seemingly simple sign was actually a (perhaps unnecessarily) huge community project! 😂

Open today 1 - 8pm. Late night ice cream is the best. Do it. The sunset's going to be gorgeous.

It's a bit of a flex to get your ice cream last in the group - it's about power patience, twitchy anticipation, watery mouth, sneaky licks of others' cones, and then when you FINALLY get yours, it's just so much bigger than everyone else's by then!

Good news! These awesome staff are a part of our work toward paying living wages to everyone - even if you're just scooping ice cream. (Mind you, these guys were engineers yesterday fixing the machine!)

We pay our team $25-26/hour, with the agreement that all profits and tips fund One Straw Society's food security work. Of course, most of those tips are going back to staff to keep those wages, but any extra is building our community as a whole.

This is a win-win, as staff get a consistent paycheque even when business is slow, and we know that we're doing all we can to keep people out of the food bank lineups - WAGES are the single biggest reason for food insecurity in Canada.

You can choose not to tip at all (without offending anyone), or tip knowing that you're supporting community gardens, free community dinners, subsidized foodboxes, and the Fruit Share Project - a fruit rescue program. In fact, your fresh fruit soft serve is featuring a lot of that locally harvested fruit!

Pop by tonight - we're open 12 - 8pm for a swirly cone and a sunset wander down the Roberts Creek pier.
