Eid Mubarak to my KD family!

Thank you to my dad. I had been exposed to all sorts of deshi restaurant food from a young age. Some of my earliest yummiest memories consist of paper packs loaded with puran dhakar morogh polau💕

Some of my of my favourites were Jhunur Polau and Nannnar Morogh polau. That chicken flavoured box of love till date is one of my favourite things to eat. I have been wanting to try and recreate some of that taste for a while now.

This is KD original- it’s neither like Nanna nor Jhunu but it’s certainly Puran Dhaka inspired. Let’s just say it’s close to my heart- recreating some of those flavour profiles I loved growing up.

Kacchi means raw marinated meat layered with rice, saffron and other goods cooked slow in a sealed pot. Is doesn’t mean pre cooked meat and rice mixed together- those are also delicious and amazing stuff with different names.

For some strange reason we like to call every biriyani around us Kacchi 🙂 and seemlingly they are all also labeled authentic!

Not sure if I will call mine authentic, that’s for you to say. However this is KhaabarDaabar’s signature dish - Goat kacchi cooked the only way it suppose to be when called that name 🙂 The combo comes with roast and Jaali.

KD Covid-19 measures to ensure food safety for my own family and yours

1. Limiting to 2 (Richmond Halal and Dhaka Bazaar) stores for all grocery pick up
2. Vegetables are ordered through PC express and picked up without entering the store
3. Etransfer only
4. Limited contactless delivery ( only within Richmond and UBC area for now) pick up for all other orders
5. Special orders are capped at 15 maximum for now

For me, the safety of my own family and KD family is paramount. Stay safe everyone.

It’s been 1 year since I started KD! I have met many amazing people during this time! Yah, a few were total jerks and sounded like I was their kaajer bua LOL 😂 ( can’t imagine why people back home never pursue their dreams and aspirations) but I am greatful to the 99.99% dream customers, who I am lucky to call my KD family! Thankyou!

Another achievement? Safe to say, I pretty much started the page revolution - where cooks, caterers who where there before my time opened their own page and even the ones who wanted to start took the que from mine. 😊

Just last week I came across a new page, which pretty much copied my menu and marketing idea. Even their album name is the same as my album name. Did I feel great? YES and NO. YES, because clearly you think my menu and marketing strategy is amazing 😊 hence you copied it, right? NO, because you have used these ideas without credit! And NO, they CANT be found anywhere on the internet just like that! It’s actually KD specific. Oh well, deshi people and the sense of intellectual property ownership, never jam together!

During this same time I also gave up my p/t HR job and switched to working full time for BC public services from January. Yes KD is still my passion and always will be. Some think I may be crazy wanting to cook with a 3 year old and a full time job 😊 I promise I am not- I am just another human with a passion to feed hungry hearts.

Month of November has been riddled with flu, cold, work commitments, dawats and life! I lost track of all that I cooked during this time 😳 but remember all the yummy smells 😀

Happy long weekend everyone!!

After a long time I took this weekend off! No deadlines for work, no orders to complete and no dawats to dress up for!!

Best times are spent with family ❤️🌈

Last weekend was very eventful! I cooked Kacchi 3 times in 2 days ( altogether 80 plates), attended 2 birthdays and then celebrated my own 😀 birthday before falling unwell 🤒 ( not related to the fun and events more to do regular virus making the rounds)

I love it when people find the smell of home in my food!! Filling hungry hearts are the best feeling ever!

Here are some snaps I took of the kacchi run with feedback, paired with my regular orders over the past week.
