Talk about fresh! Each week this growing season, Sandro delivers fresh lettuce he grows in his Lennox Avenue back yard to our food bank!

This past week he had helper Anna along with him to deliver his back garden bounty.

Our clients are SO appreciative of fresh produce and Sandro’s green thumb, especially as the Richmond Hill resident provided our food bank with garden produce last year, as well!

Important notice to all clients and donors: our Richmond Hill Community Food Bank will be CLOSED on Monday, June 15 and Tuesday, June 16 for renovations.

We will re-open on Wednesday, June 17 and welcome everyone to sparkling clean, freshly painted premises!

He did it!

Tru Pet owner Michael Taggart hoped to celebrate his 40th milestone birthday by collecting 1,600 lbs of dog and cat food for our Richmond Hill Community Food Bank.

Thanks to generous customers and your community support, he reached his goal!

Now this huge collection of dog and cat food is coming to our food bank to be distributed to any pet parents coming for emergency food aid.

From all the cats and dogs of Richmond Hill and Thornhill, big thanks to Michael!

Add fish to your dish!

Recently our food bank executive director purchased many boxes of basa fish from funds earned by our food bank volunteers through the Charitable Game Community Good program at Bingo World and Gaming Richmond Hill.

Food bank volunteer Roy is happy to show off just some of boxes from this large bulk purchase, knowing that fish is a very popular item with our clients and a great source of protein for our food bank families.

Our Richmond Hill Community Food Bank is one of 70+ charities able to earn a portion of proceeds from the gaming facility, so everyone enjoying bingo and gaming machines is actually helping feed hungry families in their neighbourhood!

Thanks, Bingo World Richmond Hill and thanks to everyone who helps us feed the 4,000 clients who turn to us each month for emergency food aid.

The Curtain Club is again pleased to partner with "Diva in the Rough" Catherine Hughes to present two nights of entertainment to celebrate Canada and Canada Day, while raising money for the Richmond Hill Community Food Bank.

Come to the Curtain Club on June 24 or 25 at 7:30 pm for “Gratefully Canadian,” a spirited celebration of the True North strong and free. It will be an evening of live music with nostalgic storytelling and cabaret, sprinkled with a healthy dose of Canadian pride. Whether reminiscing about classic Canadian TV or celebrating the defiant spirit of our national identity, this show is a heartfelt tribute to the country that celebrates our rich and diverse community.

The evening will feature Catherine Hughes on vocals, Don Guinn on piano, Emmett Martin on guitar and some familiar Curtain Club members!

This week we have a musical donation to celebrate!

David Bertram, of Studio David Bertram in Richmond Hill, brought a generous cheque to our executive director, Lee Reynolds.

It included proceeds from a freewill offering taken May 23, when 25 of his students raised their voices in song at a recital held at St. Matthew’s United Church. As well as the contributions collected at the recital, the studio also provided a substantial donation to our food bank.

Volunteers Lucy, Vienna and Denise were on hand to offer thanks and appreciation for this lovely and generous donation.

TWO community events are coming up soon – two opportunities to support your local food bank!

Next Sunday, May 24, head to the Lexus of Richmond Hill Hall inside the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts to enjoy Voices From The Hill.

It’s Councillor Karen Cilevitz’s annual benefit concert, which will benefit both our Richmond Hill Community Food Bank and 360 Kids! Bring along a food item or two to the 7 pm concert, featuring Chorus York and the Beverley Street Group, or look for our food bank display and make a cash donation.

Then on Saturday, May 30, head to Elgin Barrow Arena and Town Park for Councillor Scott Thompson’s annual Eco Family Fest! Running from noon to 5 pm in conjunction with Climate Action Richmond Hill, the afternoon features ecology booths, and is free admission with a free barbecue (but you have to pre-register for your barbecue ticket at scottthompsonrh.ca).

Look for our food bank display and please drop your non-perishable food items or offer a cash donation to help support hungry families.

Huge News: Today is the Big Day—Michael Taggart is officially 40! 🎂🎉

For any of you not in the know, Michael is the owner of Tru Pet at Richmond Heights Plaza and is also a dedicated Richmond Hill Community Food Bank volunteer!

To celebrate this milestone, Michael set a massive goal to raise 1,600 lbs of dog and cat food for our Richmond Hill Community Food Bank.

Today, Tru Pet has shared that we are officially halfway there! Thanks to your incredible generosity, 800 lbs of food is already locked in for local pets in need. But the party isn’t over yet, and we need your help to cross the finish line and smash this goal!

Here is how you can help celebrate Michael today until the end of May:
Donate in-store: Drop off bags or cans of food during your next visit. Every single pound helps!

Spread the word: Share this post with your friends, family, and neighbors to help us spread the love.

Wow, look how long that food bill is! Our food bank board chairman, Fergie, holds TWO receipts from meat purchases today, as he bought many, many boxes of ground chicken and other meats.

And it’s all thanks to bingo players at Bingo World and Gaming Richmond Hill, because our food bank and many other charities earn a portion of proceeds from the gaming facility.

With funds earned by our food bank volunteers through the Charitable Game Community Good program, we purchase chicken and other proteins to feed the 4,000 clients who turn to us each month for emergency food aid.

So when you play, you help us feed hungry local families! !
