This is Madison, and everyone at our food bank is sending her belated birthday wishes!

For her 13th birthday, the generous Thornhill girl brought in a cartload of toiletries and food donations for our clients, just before Thanksgiving.

On behalf of the 4,000 clients we help every month, we’re offering a public thank you and belated – but sincere! – thanks for her generosity!

Madison, you truly & !

You will automatically get a tax receipt, but even better, you will be helping to feed more than 4,000 clients in your neighbourhood each month who depend on us for emergency food aid.

Let’s wish this generous local girl a very happy birthday!

For her 11th birthday, Annie and her family came to our food bank today bearing gifts – for our clients! They brought paper towels, rolled oats, cookies and other treats.

As we’re just days from the Thanksgiving long weekend, we give special thanks for this family’s generosity and wish Annie happy birthday!

It was a great weekend for our food bank, with TWO food drives resulting in two van-loads of food destined for our warehouse!

Realtor Enza Styles presented a food drive on Mayvern Crescent in southwest Richmond Hill on Saturday, and that same day in Thornhill, at the Longos on Bathurst, #407 OPP Auxiliary members encouraged shoppers to donate generously during its “Operation Full Plate” pre-Thanksgiving food drive.

We are so grateful for this community support, as we are providing emergency food aid for 4,000 residents of Richmond Hill and Thornhill each month. Thanks, everyone! You !

What talent and what heart!

A grade 8 student from Charles Howitt Public School designed this poster to encourage all students at the southern Richmond Hill school to donate to our Thanksgiving food drive!

Schools across Thornhill and Richmond Hill will soon be sporting our branded Richmond Hill Community Food Bank collection bins, and our volunteers are hoping they will be filled with non-perishable food donations when they are picked up!

As the student poster notes: “together we can help fill plates and bring hope this season”!

Thanks, in advance, to generous students and their supportive parents and school staff for supporting our food drives to fill our shelves before Thanksgiving. We are serving 4,000 hungry clients every month, so every food item helps!

For a third summer in a row, this sister and brother team from Thornhill have organized a lemonade stand to raise money for our food bank, and last week they brought us the proceeds - an amazing $100!

Sloan and Easton took care of selling the lemonade and collecting donations at Mill Pond Park, but their baby sister Avery also wanted to be part of handing over the funds!

Three cheers for these three generous children (and thanks to their mom, Danielle, as well!).

Over the next two weekends, there are two ways you can help our Richmond Hill Community Food Bank stock our shelves for Thanksgiving.

Next Sunday, Sept. 27, from 10 am to 3 pm, you’re invited to the second annual 6 Senses Wellness Expo.

The free community event is hosted by the Village of Richmond Hill BIA (Business Improvement Area) at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts, 10268 Yonge St., Richmond Hill.

Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to support local families and community members in need thru our food bank, and the first 200 food donations will earn the donor a free 5 oz gelato as a thank you! All additional food donors will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize.

The 6 Senses Wellness Expo is designed for all ages. The event includes: wellness vendors and local businesses; hands-on workshops; indoor activities; Kids Zone programming; courtyard Movement Zone; live music and demonstrations; attendee bags, while supplies last; closing ceremony and prize draw.

Then on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 9 am to noon, you can boost the fall food drive sponsored by Enza Styles, realtor.

Look for our food bank truck on Mayvern Crescent, in the Bathurst/Carrville area of southwest Richmond Hill and drop off your non-perishable food items. Monetary donations will also be collected.

Let’s come together as a community to help our neighbours in need. Our food bank supports some 4,000 clients each month; so every can, every box, every contribution makes a difference! !

Is fish your favourite dish? Many of our food bank clients wish for fish, so volunteer Michael is happy to show off a freezer full of protein from the sea!

Many boxes of basa steak and shrimp rings were purchased thanks to funds our bingo volunteers earned through the Charitable Gaming Community Good program at Bingo World and Gaming Richmond Hill.

Our Richmond Hill Community Food Bank is one of 70+ charities able to earn a portion of proceeds from the gaming facility, so each person enjoying bingo or gaming machines is actually helping feed hungry families in their neighbourhood!

Thanks, Bingo World Richmond Hill and thanks to everyone who helps us feed the 4,000+ clients who turn to us each month for emergency food aid.
