On Friday, Councillor Karen Cilevitz presented the last charity support cheques of this term of council “to the the two beneficiaries for whom I have been raising funds for many many years – 360ºKids and Richmond Hill Community Food Bank”.

Executive director Lee Reynolds and board chair Fergie Reynolds were pleased to accept the donation on behalf of our food bank, as was warehouse manager Bob Ewart.

In social media the councillor noted: “Both organizations undertake remarkable selfless work across our city and region ensuring better lives for so many disadvantaged people and families across the city and region. My thanks go also to the many local businesses and private individuals who have opened their hearts and wallets to my calls for donations to support my Ward 5 councillor events now known as Songs from The Hill.

“Though the format will change in future years as our new council-approved Festivals and Events Policy takes effect from 2027 onwards, I look forward to continuing this journey to assist others and bring the joy of music and community” to residents.

Sincere thanks, Karen Cilevitz, you !

On one of the hottest days of summer, these two young Richmond Hill girls decided to create a lemonade stand.

Rachel (left) and Ellie said their lemonade was very popular during last week’s heat wave, delighting their hot and thirsty customers.

Best of all, they and their mom brought the funds raised to our food bank, to help buy food for hungry families in their community!

What a cool and generous gesture! Thx Rachel and Ellie - you truly !

Jeffrey and fellow Knights of Columbus, George Vanier council #5957, brought both food and toiletry donations to our food bank warehouse recently.

We especially appreciate donations during the summer months, as hunger doesn’t go “on vacation” during July and August! While there are few formal food drives in summer, we continue to support up to 4,000 people each and every month who need emergency food aid.

So thank you, Knights of Columbus! You and !

If you’re looking for a place to celebrate Canada’s birthday, the Richmond Hill Legion is holding a Let’s Celebrate Canada Day event July 1.

From 11 am to 4 pm, everyone is invited to enjoy games, karaoke with Russ, and a barbecued hamburger meal, with macaroni salad, potato chips and juice, costing $15.

Speaking of food, The Legion is accepting food donations for our Richmond Hill Community Food Bank.

So dress in your best red and white, bring along a few non-perishable food items, and celebrate Canada Day at the Richmond Hill Legion!

This is another generous donation from Thomas G., which was delivered last week to our food bank.

He asks our executive director “what do you need?” and then orders whatever fruits, vegetables or other food items we really need for our clients from Wal-Mart and has the large order delivered straight to our warehouse.

And yes, if you think you’ve read about this before, you’re correct, as he does this several times a year! Thanks again, Thomas, you really do !

Talk about fresh! Each week this growing season, Sandro delivers fresh lettuce he grows in his Lennox Avenue back yard to our food bank!

This past week he had helper Anna along with him to deliver his back garden bounty.

Our clients are SO appreciative of fresh produce and Sandro’s green thumb, especially as the Richmond Hill resident provided our food bank with garden produce last year, as well!

Thanks Sandro! You truly & !
