We thought we should introduce you to one of our favourite coffees from our summer lineup and debunk a little of the stigma around Brazilian coffee while we’re talking about it.

The Ipê from Fazenda Joia Rara is a bright, juicy and incredibly clean anaerobic natural. This Yellow Catuai opens with a hit of classic anaerobic funk, then settles into a super clean, fruit-forward cup with a juicy, sweet finish. Expect a medley of ripe fruit flavours and a lively acidity that makes this one perfect for summer.

Now to discuss why Brazilian coffee gets a bad rap…

There’s a perception that Brazilian coffee is all big farms, machine harvesting and commodity coffee. And while mechanised harvesting is certainly common in parts of Brazil, particularly in regions like Cerrado Mineiro, machine harvested doesn’t automatically mean bad coffee.

Brazilian producers have developed ways of managing harvest timing, ripeness, sorting and processing and these decisions have a huge impact on what ends up in your cup. The machine is just one part of a much bigger picture.

Brazilian coffee is incredibly diverse. From big, chocolatey, full-bodied coffees to delicate, fruity and beautifully complex coffees like this one, there’s a huge spectrum of flavour coming out of Brazil.

We’re not saying every Brazilian coffee is amazing just like not every Ethiopian coffee is amazing, but writing off an entire country because of how some of its coffee is harvested is missing the point.

The proof is in the pudding or in this case the cup
And this one is a pretty good example.

Our favourite coffee-fuelled night of the year is back and this time, it has a new home.

After months of settling into our downtown roastery, we’re finally ready to throw open the doors and celebrate properly. We’ll also be hosting our third annual Regional AeroPress Qualifier, with 12 competitors battling it out for one winning cup and a place at the Canadian AeroPress Championship.

Alongside the brewing, there’ll be food from Reeno’s Deli, a bar, tunes by DJ Sync or Swim, complimentary Pre samples for guests 19+, and free kids’ face painting from 5:30–7:30 PM.

Western wear is highly encouraged, with prizes for our favourite adult and junior get-ups. Boots, bolo ties hats and questionable moustaches are all welcome.

Come explore the new roastery, cheer on the competitors and help us celebrate this next chapter for Spilt Milk.

Friday, September 11 · 5–9 PM
Competition begins at 5 PM
318 Second St W, Revelstoke

Stoked to have some Ethiopians back on the shelf 🤗

Here’s Lemmie to tell you a little bit more about our washed Ethiopian from Ayla Shantawene in Sidamo.

It’s bright, juicy and bursting with tropical fruit. Roasted light and designed to shine as a filter coffee, it opens with juicy pineapple and fragrant stone fruit before finishing with a sweet, citrusy lime note. Vibrant acidity and beautiful clarity make this an incredibly refreshing and expressive cup.

Summer is at the Cafe are an absolute beast, Lines out the door, long hot days, early starts, and the occasional dusty morning.

But none of that matters when you got a team as good as this🧡

We have a few key players who have been with us for the past couple of years and will be heading off on their next adventures at the end of summer. Which makes the fact that Tuatara Creative caught a little of this era on film before it came to a close even more special.

And even though summer isn’t over yet.. thank you to the whole team for an incredible season so far.

Do you live in Squamish?

Then you’ve only got two weeks left to get your hands on our coffee!

We wanted to say a huge thank you to the team at Fox and Oak for working with us again this year. Partnering with such a passionate team is not only fun, but it also means we can rest easy knowing Lemmie’s hard work is being showcased to their community in the best way possible.

Until next year, F&O😊😘

PS. Thanks for sending niamh our way! She’s an absolute weapon! 🧡

Before we introduce a bunch of new coffees, we need to introduce the man who makes it all happen, from R&D to roasting to getting them into your hands, it would happen without Lemmie.

Lemmie has been with us for… well, let’s just say he’s our longest-standing team member. His dedication and passion, are the reason why you get to sip some of the world’s finest coffees.

He’s a roaster, a DJ, a problem solver, a one-man army… oh and he loves tomato soup. 🥫
