“Viking Cruise Ship & The Broken Spoken”
Today while parked in front of the King Street Ontario Licence Centre with a truck full of bicycles , a Viking crew member approached me inquiring where to find a tube for his bicycle?
After a brief conversation I removed a wheel from the load of bicycles and extracted a tube from a wheel the same size the crew member needed. Further discussion I found out the gentleman was from the Philippines and bicycle replacement parts are extremely difficult to find. After learning of his desperation for simple bicycle items I took him to the PCHS Broken Spoke Bicycle Shop for a tour and gathered up extra tubes and parts for him to have when he returns back to his home in the Philippines on 19 July. We have exchanged emails and will keep in touch for the next cruise ship stop over in Port Colborne. Being able to meet this individual and find out how little they have back in their home country only makes me truly grateful for being a Canadian citizen with the opportunity to have whatever I need!
The Broken Spoke & The Warehouse Of Hope provides bicycles and medical items , food and clothing etc. , loaded into shipping containers to the Philippines and several other countries over the past 15 years.
Again thank you to everyone who continues to support our students, volunteers and those less fortunate here in our community and throughout the world. Well Done! Aubrey 🚴‍♂️
