THANKS PETERBOROUGH
Dear customers and friends.
We want to say thank you for having been part of our life.
FRESH DREAMS has had to close its doors. We did not choose to close willingly.
With love, care and lots of hard work we transformed an old, forgotten and battered restaurant into a beautiful space.
We are tired of fighting with unresponsiveness, idleness, lies, bad faith and crazy leases.
This has been a really big decision.
We lost money. My amazing workers lost their jobs. My fridge spoiled, my beautiful plants, my beautiful vegetable garden that thanks to Sandy’s work grew along us, left abandoned.
My tears, all my frustration…. but always with a high head and proud to have shared unforgettable moments with you, and I hope, Spain and our culture, and our food will be more familiar to you.
We love life and love enjoying it, and nobody can change that.
What many people may not know is that Fresh Dreams was never the location; it was the family behind it. Fresh Dreams is all of you and us.
Now it’s time to look ahead. It’s time for another step. It’s time for another brick on the wall.
It’s time to enjoy our amazing five kids, whom without them and their support Fresh Dreams wouldn’t have been Fresh Dreams.
Thanks all to you, my customers, my guests, my friends. I don’t want to say. I don’t want to forget any of you. Your faces will be in my heart forever. Your gratitude, your interest, your laugh, your smile and your appreciations made our job super fun, like a hobby.
Thanks to all the grocery stores’ workers and cashiers who made my purchases easy and took care of me with your smile; Sobeys, Freshco Downtown, Minhs at George st, and to the local farmers who shared their amazing products with us.
Thanks to my friends’ restaurants; Amandala’s, Holiday Inn, Taso’s, Karmas café, La Hacienda, Soupcon, Rare, Corks and Beans, Brothers Pizza, La Mesita, etc, for being there. I wish you the best. Sorry if I’ve forgotten someone.
Thanks to the New Canadian Centre for naming me a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year. It was truly an honor and a boost to keep moving forward. Thanks to the YMCA for including us in so many events.
Thanks to Peterborough & The Kawarthas Economic Development for providing the means that allowed us to expand our patio during COVID’s difficult times. Thanks to local media for the interviews and for sharing our story. It has been an honor and a privilege to be considered simply one more person within this community.
Thank you Rosy for decorating the patio fence. Thank you Krysta for designing it. Thank you Tavish and family. Thank you Leti for your sweet touch, missed you.
Thanks to our lawyers, Peter Lawless and Ruby Byrne, for defending our rights and addressing the illegal issues we faced from the landlord and his property management.
Thanks to all the artists who brought their art to decorate Fresh Dreams.
And last but not least, thanks to my love, my partner, my helper, my friend, my shoulder, my heavy bag, my husband whom without any of this would have been possible. Just 37 years together. And all those coming!!
As we say goodbye, I am not certain if this is a final farewell or just a step toward a new chapter. I simply encourage you all to take care of yourselves, nobody will do it better. Cherish your families, eat well & healthy, and continue to be the wonderful people you are.
Let Fresh Dreams remain a beautiful memory of shared moments and lasting connections, even as we as commercial tenants face the reality of an unjust and illegal situation, which surprisingly seems to be quite common among our peers.
Cook with love, cook with music and don’t forget to cook while enjoying, just a bit of, your favorite drink.
Buy local and buy healthy, and pay in cash, and most important, enjoy this beautiful live.
Happy New 2026
Gracias.
