As well as serving delicious, affordable, local, and organic food, The Seasoned Spoon also provides educational initiatives through volunteer opportunities, workshops, speakers and conferences. The Spoon cooperative has over 400 members, most of whom are staff and students of Trent University. Membership in the café is both a form of support and a structure to enable collective action that support

s small-scale producers and helps to revitalize our regional agricultural system. The café is committed to sourcing food that is local and whenever possible organic. We also engage in education work with students and community members. This is done primarily through paid and volunteer work opportunities, reskilling workshops, panel discussions, indigenous meals, and student research projects done in partnership with the Trent Centre for Community Based Education (www.trentcentre.ca). We are proud of our strong community linkages with local producers, businesses and community organizations.
