Sixteen years ago, Dan had one simple dream: a smoked meat sandwich worth lining up for. In 2010, that dream became Sam’s Place — “The best Dan deli in town”. I won’t go on to bore you with mine and Dan’s story, but I will say that I’ve been honoured to carry that dream forward ever since. None of it would have been possible without YOU.
We know Downtown Peterborough has been under a lot of scrutiny lately. But here’s the thing - the challenges our city faces aren’t unique to Downtown. They’re everywhere. What is unique to Downtown is the heart, the history, and the community that make Peterborough, Peterborough. A city without its Downtown isn’t really a city at all.
So today, we want to say thank you — to the Peterborough DBIA , to Peterborough Tourism , and to every single person who lives, works, and thrives among us. Every visit, every sandwich, every regular who keeps coming back — you’re not just supporting us, you’re supporting Downtown itself.
To everyone who’s walked through our doors over the last 16 years: thank you. This milestone is yours as much as it is ours.
Here’s to the next 16 years of great sandwiches, strong community, and a Downtown worth believing in.
