Many of you probably know the amazing Kaitlin Hussein of Flourishing Families here in Perth. She’s generous, kind and overall an amazing person. She spends her time helping others with no expectations of anything in return.
Kaitlin’s daughter was bitten by a tick when she was less than two years old and is now suffering extreme long term Lyme disease symptoms which are affecting her neurological system. Without going into too much detail, I’ve never heard of such extreme symptoms. This poor girl is now eight years old and woke up one day, living a completely different life - at times not knowing who her parents were and experiencing intense hallucinations. After weeks of testing it was finally discovered (internationally) that she has Lyme Disease which has caused a condition called PANS (Pediatric Acute Neuropsychiatric Syndrome). Due to the lack of understanding and resources in Canada she has had to seek private care for diagnoses and treatments. Her daughter is in need of extensive treatment, and while she has good days and bad days there is no way to determine what each day will bring. This has in turn caused Kaitlin to step back from work and focus on her family.
Kaitlin, doesn’t ask for help from anyone. She’s the one that does the helping. I’m hoping together as a community. We can show her that her efforts over her life have not gone unnoticed, and that we can return the favour in helping save a little girl’s quality of life, a family sleep a little better at night, and Kaitlin to feel the community come together for her when she really needs it.
We soon will be doing a Raffle but step one in raising enough money for this beautiful family is to get PIZZA!! Our lovely local Domino's Perth Ontario has offered to hold this fundraiser. So mark your calendars! August 25!
