Psst. Lots of talk of the Blackbird Renovation. This is what we mean.

We are mostly doing some very deep cleaning and repairs. We are as everyone knows very busy bakery. Wear and tare increases as the business ages. We want the place fresh and clean. Trust me the mix of flour and coffee grounds is a real thing we fight.

We are also taking this time to reevaluate our flow. Some days no one knows where the line starts and begins. This is a real issue . We mostly want it to work for us. That moving a few things around and tweaking some larger pieces of our furniture and counter we will be able to create a better community space. If you have a stroller and have ever been with us a peak time , it's not very nice. We want the place to feel wonderful.

Before we do this I need rest as does the staff haha. So the time we are closed is indeed a long time, and boy are we are excited to be able to take this so we make our special Bakery easier and more wonderful for us all.

Please note we will be around the cafe this for some cleaning and breaking down. Trust me when I say there is no big secret happening.

We have appreciated all the love and support since the announcement ,it has been overwhelming. I promise to keep everyone informed as we progress .

Well, y'all! The secret is out...

This Sunday is the last day of summer, and with it, we bid the bakery goodnight for a long fall rest.

What are we up to during this time? I feel like time will tell all.

No rumors, please. We'll be back after rest, deep cleaning, so general maintenance, and some much-needed respite.

Please don't fear — we'll just be throwing paper up on the windows for a while.

The best-kept secrets are just that: secret.

We love you, dear followers, near and far.

And I, for one, after 17 years, am loving you all with so much gratitude.

Tick tock, tick tock ⏰ Our fall extended break is creeping up fast! Reminder: Mondays are still a "we're closed, go be productive elsewhere" kind of day. This fall weather snuck up on us like it had somewhere to be — but we're not going anywhere just yet. Swing by before our last day of the season! Thanks for loving us so hard. A little note from the bakery 🍞

What a summer it's been. The ovens have barely had a moment to cool, the line out the door became a familiar (and honestly, kind of wonderful) sight, and we have flour in places we didn't know flour could reach. If you were part of any of that — grabbing a coffee and croissant on your way to work, bringing the kids in for a Saturday treat, or just leaning on the counter for a chat — thank you. Truly. This place only works because you keep showing up, and we don't take that for granted.

So here's the thing: even bakers and baristas need a rest.

**A few dates for your calendar:**
- We'll be closed on Labour Day
- Closed the following Tuesday (the 8th) too — call it an extra-long weekend, we won't apologize
- And for the rest of September, we'll be closed on Mondays, so the team can catch its breath before the next stretch

We're also giving you a heads-up (not the details yet, just the vibes) that our fall closure is coming up in October. We'll share exact dates closer to the time — for now just know a little downtime is on the horizon, and it's a good thing.

None of this is us going anywhere. It's quite the opposite — it's us making sure we're rested, recharged, and still excited to see you when those doors swing back open. Burnt-out bakers make sad bread, and nobody wants sad bread.

Hi Blackbird friends! 🖤

Thank you to everyone who keeps rolling into our wonderful town of Pemberton to visit this little artisan bakery. We see you in line, patiently waiting — and it does not go unnoticed.

We’re doing our best to keep up during peak season, but please know: we may sell out of your favourites. We choose quality over quantity, every time. Great things take time, and we believe it’s worth the wait.

Huge thank you for your support this past week — we had some record-breaking days, and we’re celebrating that with all of you. 🎉

Hey folks ! It's been awhile since we have been active here. To be honest it's been really nice to take a breather. We know you love us and we love you. I wanted to take a moment to thank my summer crew this year. They have been running the show with style and grace and we will truly miss them as they head by to school and off to new adventures.

But, summers not over yet for the rest of us so we look forward to the rest of these long summer nights and beautiful Pemberton mornings and maybe a few chocolate croissant 😜

To our Pemberton and Sea to Sky extended Blackbird family,

The last few days have asked a lot of all of us. When the wildfires came close, it felt like the whole community shifted into something quieter and more focused — one task at a time, one coffee at a time, one moment at a time. We made the choice to stay heads down and do whatever it took to keep our doors open for you, because being here, being a steady place in an unsteady time, felt like exactly what we should be doing.

And we did it. Our staff showed up with so much heart and resilience through all of this. Our equipment held strong right alongside them. We are so proud of this team.

But even the strongest need a breath. So this coming Monday and Tuesday, we’re going to close our doors — not because we have to, but because we want to come back to you rested, grounded, and full. We’ll be open again Wednesday, ready to welcome you the way we always love to.

To the firefighters, first responders, and everyone who worked tirelessly to keep our community safe over these past days — there really are no words big enough for what you’ve given us. You are heroes in every sense, and our gratitude runs deep.

Paula at Pemberton Valley Coffee has been our main coffee roaster for nearly 17 years. She doesn't just roast coffee. She leads with passion, with care, with the kind of dedication that you can actually taste.
