I got served a slice of humble pie the other day. I'm still munching on the crumbs. It was tasty.

A girl I "used to know" walked into the shop. I haven't seen her since the day I left Florida to chase the same dream in Newfoundland.

I always believed she’d be there when I came back.

And then she sat down and knew where to look.
She knew I’d see her.

Of course, time stopped. It always did around her.

For a few minutes, you should’ve seen my grin. I think she did too.

Finally.

I get to tell her everything.

Before I got the chance..

Another guy greeted her with a card and flowers.
Nice guy. Clean-cut gentleman.

My grin never left. But. The eyes got heavy meson.

The realization just hit me.
I never got her flowers

I left her to chase something I couldn’t see, couldn’t touch, and couldn’t promise would ever work.

And somehow, in that moment, I realized exactly what it cost me.

I made sure our paths crossed as she was leaving.
In the moment, it felt like we both knew.
No explanation.
No catching up.
Just one word, said almost in unison-
“Hey.”

And then she was gone.

Chase your dreams bys.. good luck understanding the cost of opportunity.

Thank you H****, I needed a wake-up call.
