A message from Art House Owner Geneviève Bétournay
Hey Art House Community,
We heard you loud and clear.
You were shocked, confused, offended, angry, or even hurt by the advertisement that there would be an AI meetup taking place in this space. And we understand why.
We wanted to start by apologizing for posting something of this nature without more clarity around context, intentions and where we stand.
We understand the concerns around the risks and potential impacts of this technology and the serious disruptions that this technology is causing for real people. We never meant to overlook the validity of these concerns, or to be disrespectful and we are sorry for the hurt we caused.
Let it be clear that our intention with accepting to host this event was never to endorse the use of AI to replace human creativity or artistry.
Rather, we wanted to remain open to facilitating conversations around something that is becoming very prevalent and that is not likely to go away. Our mission has always included providing opportunities for people to explore different ideas and perspectives.
That being said, we recognize that we made mistakes in our approach and the need to reconsider the way in which we engage with these topics.
At the end of the day, our priority is to our community and ensuring that our community feels heard and considered. We want people to feel safe in the space and in interacting with us.
For these reasons we have decided to cancel today’s event and will be taking time over the next days and weeks to reflect on the feedback we have received to ensure the we move forward in a way that feels in alignment with the values of our community.
Thank you to those who reached out to be a part of the dialog and provide us with your honest thoughts and feedback.
