Closing Mic.
I feel it's time to make an official statement. The Umi Café Open Mic, after 6 years, will be coming to an end. This firday the 18th and next friday the 25th will be the last two Open Mic nights at Umi. Let's make our last two fidays at Umi nights to remember!
I assure you that the Open Mic will continue, but not at this cafe. When we have decided on a new location, I will let you know.

Dear Umi Cafe,

When I came to Ottawa I was astounded to find an atmosphere like this. The people creating it and the cultue in ottawa is rich. I am sad to hear that it will be closing its doors in two weeks. I want to assure anyone who feel umi was a home to them or a safe place to be, That Julien DuPont and I are set on providing a place for peers to grow unjudged and without fear of basic needs. Please note that I love you. I love you all. And If I have a floor or a bed for you you are welcome to it.

The entire nation feels like its ready for a revolution and the world is ready for a change.

I am not a devout anything other than human being but when the head of a church says so its big news. The world in changing. and whether umi is closing because we are not to be housed ( in the opinion of the few) or because it is time for something new a bigger. I want to reassure everyone. The Way has got ottawa under its wing. And The Way is from ottawas wing. So I say finally in sadness to see umi go. And knowing that im halfway across the country trying to forward our growth I am at umi in spirit. Love from Alec C. Mead
