BIKE OF THE NIGHT

Straight in from taking home some hardware at Sturgis, this bike showed up at Blackjacks on Tuesday night.

And man, did it show up.

After waiting out the seemingly never-ending crowd surrounding it, and letting the sun hang it's hat a little lower, we finally got a few minutes alone with this jaw-dropping build.

Bike of the Night wasn't a difficult decision.

The owner, Jesse, built it and had a familiar face around Blackjacks do some engraving work on it. His name is Michael Angelo for those unaware. And as humble as he was about the whole thing, the bike had just earned 1st Place in the Garage Built Show - Best Big Twin and 3rd Place in the Rat's Hole Radical Class at Sturgis.

Spend a few minutes looking at it and you understand why.

A throaty Big Twin. Neighbour-hatin' short pipes. Single-sided swingarm. A meaty kickstarter. And enough style to stop people in their tracks before you even start noticing the finer details.

The paint. The engraving. The metalwork. The little decisions that don't reveal themselves until you've already been staring at it for ten minutes.

We love it. So did everybody else.

That's the thing about motorcycles.

Bike Night at Blackjacks has been kicking around for somewhere around 15 years now. We've seen thousands of bikes come through that parking lot.

And somehow, every once in a while, one still makes you feel like a kid again.

Maybe it was a little toy motorcycle you carried around until the wheels fell off.

Maybe it was watching some movie hero escape certain death on two wheels.

Maybe it was the first time your uncle let you pull back the throttle on an old 50cc Honda and, for a few seconds, you heard the call of the wild.

Whatever it was, somewhere along the way, we all got bitten by the same bug.

The machines are part of it.

The freedom is part of it.

But so are the people who build them, ride them, gather around them and keep finding new reasons to stare at motorcycles in parking lots long after we should've all grown out of it.

We're glad we never did.

Thanks for rolling in, Jesse.

And thanks for making a bunch of us feel like kids again.

Edmonton Toy Run sponsored the night and kept the 50/50 going while the sun beat down on the pavement and Ziff played tunes to keep the atmosphere cool.

Another Bike Night in the books.

See you fine folk at the next one.

Mark your calendars. The biggest Bike Night of the season is coming.

September 8th from 5–9pm, the Blackjacks Burnout Competition takes over the Roadhouse.

Pillars of smoke. Pounding pistons. Screaming tires. It's all gonna be here.

Riders will push their machines and their nerves to the limit in the burnout pit, battling eachother for cash, prizes, tires and more.

You can come watch.

Or you can roll into the pit and show us what you've got.

Either way, you’re going to want to be here.

September 8th. 5–9pm.

We'll see you in the smoke.

BIKE OF THE NIGHT

You don’t see one of these every Tuesday.

This week’s Bike of the Night goes to a machine that is impossible to miss.

I hadn’t seen this trike in the Blackjacks lot for quite a while, so seeing it roll back in last night was a nice surprise. Bright blue paint, red accents, a quilted seat, dice details, a tall windshield, and enough personality to stop you in your tracks.

We’ll be honest — we don’t know exactly what it started life as, or what all has gone into it over the years.

But that’s part of what makes it cool.

Some bikes are easy to sum up with a make, model, and spec sheet. This one is different. This one is all character. It looks custom, lived-in, and built by someone who clearly wanted something that stood out from everything else in the lot.

And it does.

From the “BACK OFF” mudflaps to the dice shifter, this trike has its own sense of humour, its own style, and its own place at Bike Night.

That’s what makes Bike Night fun. Harleys, sport bikes, touring machines, customs, trikes, oddballs, classics — if it has a story, it belongs here.

What a day at Hogs & Lowriders!

The crowds packed the track at Blackjacks for pig races, wiener dog races, local vendors, family activities and plenty of laughs—all in support of Rosie’s Best Friends Farm Sanctuary Society and Alberta Dachshund Rescue.

Thank you to the rescues, volunteers, vendors, racers and everyone who came out to make the day so memorable!

On Sunday, the Fezzes & Fuel Show & Shine rolled into Blackjacks, put together by the Al Shamal Shriners in support of the work they do throughout the community.

What showed up was an interesting mix.

Big rigs. Muscle cars. Rare vintage European machines. Custom motorcycles. Different eras, different styles, all sharing the same parking lot for the afternoon.

Live music, vendors, face painting and more kept things moving while people took a closer look at the machines that made the trip out.

Thanks to the Al Shamal Shriners for putting it together, and to everyone who brought something out, stopped by, or helped make the day happen.

We'll see you down the road.

BIKE OF THE NIGHT

Some bikes show up loud.
Some show up flashy.
And some roll in looking like they were built to cross provinces without breaking a sweat.

This week’s Bike of the Night goes to this Honda CTX 1300 — a big, smooth, red touring machine made for comfort, distance, and putting serious miles behind you.

With the storm clouds hanging over the lot, this bike had the right kind of presence. Not wild. Not overdone. Just clean, capable, and ready to ride wherever the road points next.

The CTX 1300 brings that Honda touring confidence: low-slung stance, full bags, comfortable cockpit, plenty of wind protection, and enough chrome and red paint to catch your eye without trying too hard.

It may not be the loudest bike in the lot, but that is not the point.

This one is for the riders who know the best part of the night is not always arriving.

Sometimes it is the ride home.

We’ve got a big weekend coming up at Blackjacks!

Saturday, August 15 is Hogs & Lowriders, with pig races, wiener dog races, a petting zoo, vendors, crafts, raffles and more.

Then Sunday, August 16 is Fezzes & Fuel Show & Shine. Bring out your cars, trucks and bikes or come by and check everything out. There’ll be live music, a silent auction, marketplace and more.

Both events are happening right here at Blackjacks Roadhouse in Nisku.

Come hang out with us this weekend! 🤘

Ride to Reconciliation rode out on Saturday from Blackjacks Roadhouse.

The sun kept the pavement hot while the big tent kept the vendors, sponsors, volunteers and visitors cool.

A silent auction, 50/50, Traditional Dancers and live music kept things moving while the riders were out on the road. Then the bikes rolled back in and everyone settled in for a brisket dinner.

Thanks to everyone who showed up, took part, volunteered and helped make the day what it was.

Another ride in the books.

See you at the next one.
