Some days, the chaos gets to us. The long hours, the exhaustion, the endless things to take care of… and sometimes, we feel like running away from it all.

And then, an evening like today happens. 🥹❤️

One of our dear regulars reached out to us with a beautiful request. Her dad was celebrating his 𝟗𝟗𝐭𝐡 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲, and he wanted to celebrate it at 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐢’𝐬 𝐊𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧, 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐬.❤️

Ninety-nine years of life, and he chose our idlis for his special day. How do you even put into words what that means?

We start a restaurant thinking we are here to serve food. But somewhere along the way, we become a little part of people’s lives, their celebrations, and their precious memories.

I don't know how many more difficult days this journey will bring. There will be days when the exhaustion feels heavier than the happiness, when the chaos gets louder than the joy.

From the days I started cooking at home to our little restaurant today, I never imagined that so many of you would become such a special part of my life.

Some of you travel from different parts of Ontario and Quebec just to dine with us. Some come especially to see me. And some share life's most precious moments with me.

Yesterday, one of my regulars told me she was 15 weeks pregnant. Before sharing the news with her friends or relatives, she had chosen to tell me.

When I asked her why, she said, “Aunty, I come here so often. I just wanted to tell you.”

How do you put a feeling like that into words?

The long hours and sleepless nights are real. But then, something like this happens, and I am reminded that this journey has given me something far beyond what I ever set out to build.

I started by sharing my food with you. Somewhere along the way, you began sharing your lives with me. And you have found a place in my heart. ❤️

This Thanksgiving, I am thinking of every one of you who has walked through our doors, returned over the years, travelled to see us, and made Sundari’s Kitchen part of your lives.

Because we certainly missed making them. ❤️

After taking a little break, 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶’𝘀 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 — 𝘄𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺!

When Sundari’s Kitchen started, it was just me, my pots, my recipes, and the hope that the food I grew up with would find a place in someone else’s heart too.

Over the years, I’ve watched that little kitchen become part of birthdays, family gatherings, celebrations, office lunches, get-togethers… and those simple moments when people just want to put good food on the table and eat together.

And that’s how these trays came to be.

Not because we wanted to make “catering food.”

But because sometimes, **𝗮 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗼𝘅 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿.** 😊

Our favourites are now available in **𝟱 𝗞𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘆𝘀**, made for sharing — whether it’s a small gathering or a table full of people.

𝗔 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 & 𝗔 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

Because at the end of the day, that’s what food has always meant to me.
