Italy will always be where our story began, the place that gave us our traditions, our love of food, and so many of the values we carry with us.

But Canada is where we built our life, started our family and met amazing people who welcomed us and made us feel at home.

Over the years, Canada has become much more than the place where we live. Embracing its traditions and celebrations and becoming Canadian citizens has made Canada an essential part of who we are.

The Italian Counter is a little piece of Italy we brought with us — our recipes, memories, and heritage — now growing here in Canada.

We are incredibly proud to be Italian Canadians and deeply grateful for this country and for everyone who has been part of our journey.

This Father’s Day, I wanted to share a photo with the person who taught me what hard work really looks like.
When he was young, my dad started at the bottom in a pastry shop, working for its owners and delivering pastries on foot all over Trieste, Italy. He woke up in the middle of the night, worked long days, learned the trade from the ground up, and kept going year after year.
Through hard work and determination he eventually took over that very pastry shop and made it his own.
Growing up, I watched him work tirelessly for his family. Those early mornings, that discipline, and dedication stayed with me.
Now, as I work to build a future for my own family through The Italian Counter, I understand even more what that meant. I hope I can pass on to my own children the same values he passed on to me and I feel grateful to be carrying that story forward here in Napanee.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, grandfathers, and father figures who lead by example. ❤️
