Hop aboard the little ferry leaving Nanaimo’s harbour — salty breeze in your hair, eagles overhead, and ocean spray dancing in the sunlight. As you drift across to Saysutshun (Newcastle Island) Provincial Park, you’ll feel time slow down. The forest thickens. The air smells like cedar and salt. And just a short stroll from the dock? That’s where you’ll find us — Trollers on Land.

Hidden in the trees, just steps from the sea, our humble cabin-style restaurant welcomes hikers, wanderers, and food lovers alike. We’ve taken everything you love about the coast — the soul of the island, the richness of the smokehouse, and the heart of a good fish fry — and put it on a plate.

🐟 Our signature dish? Fish & Chips, done three ways — wild cod, sockeye salmon, and halibut — crisped to golden perfection.
🔥 Craving something hearty? Hand helds and comfort classics bring warmth after a long trail walk.
🦐 And if you’re lucky, the scent of smoked meats and grilling seafood might just pull you in before you even see our sign.

After a soft opening with a limited menu, we’re thrilled to announce: TROLLERS ON LAND IS NOW FULLY OPEN FOR THE SEASON! 🎉

We’re wrapping up our soft opening here at Off the Hook on Newcastle Island (Saysutshun Provincial Park) — and what an incredible couple of weekends it’s been! Huge thanks to everyone who stopped by for a taste and helped us warm up the grill (and the vibes).

This weekend marks the end of our soft launch, and we’re just about ready to go full swing. Stay tuned — we’ll be announcing our official hours and unveiling our full menu very soon. 👀🔥

Wow — what an amazing first day of our soft opening at Trollers on Land! We’re so grateful to everyone who stopped by in beautiful Saysutshun Provincial Park to support us. Your smiles, kind words, and appetite made it a day to remember!

We’re back at it again today and tomorrow, serving up delicious bites starting at 11AM. Closing time will be weather dependent, so be sure to swing by early and soak up the good food and good vibes.

THANK YOU to each and every one of you!

Yesterday marked the end of an incredible season at Trollers on Land, and we can't believe it's already time to say goodbye until next spring!

We're overwhelmed with gratitude for the amazing support from our loyal customers, new friends, the hard work of our incredible staff and the love from the entire Saysutshun Provincial Park community.

Your laughter, stories, and smiles made every day brighter, and we're honored to have shared in so many special moments.

As we close our doors for the winter, we're already counting down the days until we can welcome you back to our cozy spot overlooking the breathtaking views.

Important Update from Trollers on Land!

As we approach the end of the season, we want to let our valued customers know that we will be OPEN on September 30th, Truth and Reconciliation Day.

Please join us on this significant day as we reflect on our country's history and honor the resilience of Indigenous peoples.

Importantly, September 30th will also mark our LAST DAY OF THE SEASON.

We're grateful for the incredible summer we've had and the opportunity to serve you all at beautiful Saysutshun Provincial Park.

Come enjoy a meal with us and take in the stunning views one last time before we close our doors until next spring!

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you on tomorrow !
