Tora is a singer-songwriter based in Vancouver, BC, who grew up in Nanaimo. From a young age, she was drawn to singing and storytelling, eventually learning guitar and developing her own songwriting style. As a teenager, she began entering singing competitions, building confidence as a vocalist and gaining stage experience. Her journey continued with her becoming a finalist in Nanaimo Idol 2025, further fueling her passion for connecting with audiences through music. Her music blends elements of pop and country combining catchy melodies with personal, story-driven lyrics inspired by life and love.

Drawing inspiration from artists who bring fun, heart and authenticity to their music. She is inspired by artists such as Miranda Lambert, Shania Twain, and Ella Langley.

Tora has begun building her presence in the local music scene through a variety of live performances across Vancouver Island and Vancouver. Her performances include acoustic sets at local breweries such as The Wolf Brewing Company in Nanaimo, and music venue Guilt & Co. in Vancouver. Most recently she performed with her band at The Queen’s music venue in Nanaimo.

Alongside music, Tora also works as a pediatric nurse at BC Children’s Hospital bringing the same connection into her songwriting and performances. She performs a mix of heartfelt originals and crowd-favourite covers, with the goal of creating an inviting and engaging experience for her audience.

Tora is building her sound while performing across British Columbia, gearing up for the release of her debut music, and shaping what’s next.

Kevin Sands is a singer, songwriter and recording artist, as well as an experienced session harmonica player. Come enjoy a relaxed evening of live music, great food and drinks at Simonholt.

Kevin Sands is a seasoned performer, composer, and guitarist known for his unique left-handed playing style on a right-handed guitar, inspired by artist such as Elizabeth Cotton and Karl Wallinger.

A skilled harmonica player, Kevin began his
musical journey in childhood, writing his first song at 15 and making his stage debut at the Northern
Lights Folk Festival in 1975. in 1977 he joined the very popular Earthshine Band, touring Western Canada and recording a live album at the Bessborough Hotel in Saskatoon.

Throughout the years, Kevin has worked extensively as a performer, session musician, sound engineer and producer. He has written and recorded two original album projects — The Courting and Ascending — and continues to perform a wide repertoire of original music and covers from artists like Bruce Cockburn, Tom Petty, The Eagles, Jackson Browne, Steve Earle, and John Mayer.

Big Band delight coming our way October 18th, when Nanaimo's own Big Band, the Nanaimo Music Association Big Band is playing for us at their yearly event at the Simonholt Restaurant Nanaimo) Oct. 18th. 7:30pm

The NMA with the exceptional Natasha Adams on vocals, is now in the 59th year since its foundation and is led by its original founder, and educator Bryan Stovell.
The band has never slipped into the comfort of "that same old song" but always presents exciting mixes of traditional and modern musical pieces presented in a challenging way!

The band has nurtured some of Canada's leading jazz players in its long history. Such musicians as Dianna Krall, Phil Dwyer, Ingrid and Christine Jensen and in recent times a new wave of up and coming players, as well as many players who have been part of the Big Band for many years.
