Sunday Somewhere: Where the Music Begins October 4, 2026
Every good story starts with a sound. A screen door creaking open, a fiddle tuning up in the corner; a guitar handed down from a father to a son. This season, our Sunday Somewhere adventures begin the same way, and we could not be more honoured to introduce the two artists who will fill our first gatherings with song.
Mary Liv knows that the best songs come from the real stuff. A 1996 Ford Ranger that has seen better days. A stack of old love letters someone thought they had hidden well. She writes about these things with a warmth that makes you feel like she’s been peeking into your own glove box and shoebox. Raised on Canadian fiddle and country music, she carries those roots in every melody and every turn of phrase. She has spent the past two years travelling Western Canada, playing everywhere from cozy coffee shops to festival stages, and somehow the result is always the same: people get up and dance. With a fiddle in one hand and a talent for switching instruments in the other, she keeps a room alive from the first song to the last.

Then there is Lachlan Neville, a songwriter from Rocanville, Saskatchewan, whose story begins with his father’s guitar. A D35, rich and resonant, the kind of instrument that seems to hold a lifetime of songs before anyone plays a note. Lachlan grew up loving a good story, and he found the perfect way to tell them. While most of us were stuck at home during the pandemic, he spent his high school years learning the craft of songwriting, one careful line at a time, inspired by Bob Dylan, Ian Tyson, and Bruce Springsteen. It paid off. His songs found their way across Canada, and in 2025 he released his debut self-titled album, now waiting for you on every streaming platform.
