Hi everyone!
Just wanted to update you on our current situation. As most of you might know, we’ve been temporarily closed due to the fact that our lease ended and we never came to an agreement with the new owners. As business owners, we understand the current economics of the world and have no ill feelings towards the management. Business is business and it’s up to you to make it work within the boundries. As a family business, we know who our customers are and we didn’t feel comfortable doubling our prices to cover the new rent. Would we have been able to survive with the increase of rent? Most likely. However, we were in a position where we could dictate our own path. Raising prices would only benefit the new owners. Customers, especially students would need to pay extra for basically the same product and that didn’t feel right with us. We know we have the most loyal customers and they would still come 3-4 times a week to order their ham and cheese or chicken salad sandwiches, but we want our prices to be reasonable, unfortunately that would not happen if we would need to raise them.
All this is to say that we’ve decided to close for good. As some of you might know, we’ve been grieving for the past year. You never expect to lose someone so young and my heart just isn’t in it anymore to continue. Since 1988, super sandwich has been feeding hungry students and office workers and we would like to thank everyone for their support over the years. I’ve become friends with many of you and I’ve met the most important person of my life too at the store.
