🦋🧡 The Monarch butterflies have arrived at the Wharf Village!

“Riding the Wind” is a stunning public art installation celebrating the beauty of nature and the resilience of the Monarch butterfly - a species whose incredible journey reminds us that we all share a responsibility to protect our planet.

Created by Gary Crosby, alongside his wife, Marie, this beautiful display is the result of countless hours of dedication. Each butterfly has been individually hand-carved, crafted, and painted, making every piece a unique work of art. Depending on where the butterflies are located, Gary has created different versions of the installation for communities to enjoy. Gary, a retired Chief Warrant Officer, proudly served 35 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, with deployments across multiple continents. His love of nature and conservation is beautifully reflected in this inspiring artwork.

The Wharf Village is proud to be the third stop for this travelling installation. It will remain on display here until July 13 before continuing to its fourth destination at Irving Nature Park.

✨Fun Fact: Wildlife conservation holds a special place in our hearts. Collectively, Jenna and Jamey (owners of the Wharf Village) have travelled to Africa 11 times for humanitarian and Big Cat research initiatives. Experiencing these beautiful animals in their natural habitat is nothing short of incredible!
